Flea Bass.

given the intended application of these basses, I'd say that he's hit the mark with this one if they sound and play as well as he claims. Aesthetically, they're not my cup of tea, but then neither are really expensive, sleek boutique basses either.

Nice job, Flea.

If this company gets ONE family to ditch the idea of buying a First Act bass from MallWart and pick up a FleaBass instead, Mr. Balzary will have achieved greatness. I have students who come in with that schlock - barely playable and looking like a compound bow with frets - and expect to learn how to play. It just kills me.

That's a great thought.

Is it just me but does that Bridge look Funky? Looks like it wasted an inch of string there. Not a good choice for bridge-Not good for sustain - I guess if it is for beginners then they must keep it simple and wouldn't know the difference. The colors influenced by an acid trip?.:bassist:

The fact that someone is actually making short scales along with the requisite long scale is cool. While they are aimed at kids, I suspect adults will be able to use them too. Hopefully the quality and playability will be high and us "non-kid" short scale users can enjoy them.

If Flea, taking a page from the Ernie Ball playbook, can make a reasonably high quality bass for little money, more power to him. I'm not a Flea fan but we can use more people like him putting out quality short scale basses.

Yup, I doubt Flea can give the budget market some incentive to make better quality instruments with this 1 bass, but it may well only be the beginning, who knows where he might end up taking the project. Hopefully he could give those kinda people a well deserved kick up the arse if he does decided to expand the range and take the whole thing a little further.

For all the people bashing the looks haven't you seen the posts upon posts sayin IT'S FOR KIDS, Christs' sake! I assume most of you didn't wanna live in yellow and red plastic houses, but I bet most young people would prefer that to living in a 17th century thatched house like alot of us apparently sophisticated adults :p

To me it looks like a contemporary take on Danelectro (or should I say 80's with those colurs?) or something, really simple design. The only thing that looks kinda odd to me is the lack of screws on the scratchplate, funky colours though, obviously meant to look alto like a toy but I think it's kinda cool, Danelectros look alot like toys too depending on the colour cos of their simplicity.

Can't see the problem with the bridge myself, looks like a fair modern design to me, certainly a step up from the stock Fender style bridge anyway, obviously they warrant their own uses, you wouldn't want some half ton Gotoh style design for playing soul or reggae, but for sustain you can obviously do better.
