Fly your Metal Flake Freak Flag!

Beautiful!

thanks! It rides Roto black tapes now which play/sound better. In less light it looks very black-cherry, and the sparkle activates under brighter (stage) light.

Here's my ongoing J body refinish.

I used Ed Roth gang green base in a rattle bomb, and didn't realize how small the 4 mm flakes are. It was the only size available in a rattle bomb (can), so I'm spraying more green base (another can) and going to use self leveling epoxy and shake some 10 mm flake while it still wet. Might get crazy and do different sizes of the same color, or smaller pieces of different color green, and possibly do multiple coats of thin epoxy to get some depth.

JIO - those have to be three of the most unique and beautiful basses on TB. Just a quick question - what model is your black, fretless Westone? I've looked at a Westone history website and could not find it. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your kind words! Actually the neck is a Westone Spectrum LX from the mid 80's but the body is my own design. I'm having a specific neck w/my hs design (pic) made for this 4 string prototype once in production but in the meantime I used the Westone 22 fret neck to mock it up. That neck came as a fretted/fretless set along (one attached to a bass) with a case that was molded for the spare neck. (cool concept right?) It has a great feel so I'm modeling my neck from it, except it will have a set-back hs design.

Nice... Really Nice...
Do you sell to the public, or just build for yourself? I'd love to have one of these...

Thank you.

I am a commercial builder, I have a website (www.moonshineguitars.com), but it is very (very.very...) out of date. I use my facebook page (Moonshine Custom Guitars) to showcase what I am currently building.

Please PM me for more information.

I really like the above photos.
When you're talking flake, you're talking crazy.
When you' re talking crazy flake you need to see the AC bass in the avatar of SVT-15B.
Game, set, match?
