I think they are those same off the shelf pickups. I can understand it though. Seymour Duncan makes the regular more narrow dual coils just for Fodera, and markets the NYC Phase II as a similar aftermarket pickup (with Fodera's blessing I presume). Rather than make entirely new pickups for a handful of custom 16-17.5mm Foderas, they just don't print 'Basslines' on their regular NYC phase IIs which go out to Fodera. Nothing wrong with that. They're still essentially Fodera pickups and they sound great.

Of course I could be completely wrong.

I am pretty sure they are not off the shelf and are made for Fodera.. They were special order and an expensive upgrade. Same as those that Janek has in his bass. At some point Jason will jump in and set it all straight.

Although we are saving the details for the formal announcement at Bass Player Live, the newest member of the Fodera Family will sport 5-strings, dual coil pickups, be 100% born and bred in our Brooklyn shop and have a price tag of $5,750.

The first batch of 30 will be available for sale at precisely 11:30am PDT (2:30 pm EDT) on October 22, 2011 through our Webstore. A $1,000 deposit will be required to secure yours and we will begin shipping them on, or before April 1, 2012. We expect these to sell out very quickly. The first 30 Yin Yang Standards sold out in under four hours...

i was actually thinking about the two different coils and not the pole pieces. duncan started selling these

and they look like they just took too jazz bass pickups and stuck them together with how far apart the coils are making it a wider aperture humbucker than the ones that come in fodera. ive still got my old plastic covers from the duncan duals in the fodera i used to have and the coils look closer together. maybe its just the picture tricking my eye.
