Optical illusion because the photos were shot close to one year apart by two different people. Yes, we do vary the body dimensions based on customer request (when building the customs) but in this case they are almost identically sized bodies...

Super rare now and getting next to impossible to get. By way of example, we are constantly buying wood to replace stock and it took us 18 months (yes, 18 months) to find a small parcel of high quality Koa that met our specs...lots of garbage available, but premium, old growth, seasoned, high-figured stock is becoming brutally hard to get...
In terms of answering questions...remember I was a bass player and TB guy long before I became partners with Joey and Vinny so I was on here all the time anyway!! LOL. It is truly my pleasure and thanks for the kind words...

Part of the Certified Pre-Owned Program. Its owner has another that is about to be finished and this was a "tide me over" bass until his custom order was ready...

We are now 100% Brooklyn Born...something that I really was always hoping to do. With the complexities of sourcing parts from Japan, even though it is more expensive to build everything in Brooklyn, it makes life easier and at the end of the day it gives us completes control 100% of the time...

Wow! That is great. What about all the time Vinny took to train those luthiers in Japan on the methods and build quality that is part of the Fodera mantra?
It seems I'll be part of the family... E5S #46 has my hat on it!
#23 here. Funny thing about big purchases. Didn't know I needed it... And now I can't live without it.
Hey Jason - let me just say brilliant move.
It's not just build quality, its also the brand. When people buy any kind of Fodera they want to tap into the raw mojo of that Brooklyn factory. It's a whole different vibe when everything from Fodera comes from the same place - the only difference is how customized it is. Well done - seriously. I think you guys will live to really appreciate that decision.

Man, the YYS I played at the New England g2g has me gassing for a fodera more than ever. The musicality of mike popes preamps in the upper mid/treble territory is unparalleled in my opinion.

If I were a betting man, I would think that the next Standard would be announced at the 2013 NAMM Show for our 30th Anniversary...
Production of Standards looks like this for 2012...
January - March = YYS 61-90
April - June = E5S 1-30
July - September = E5S 31-60
October - December = YYS 91-120 (tentatively)"

The reality is that those guys are GREAT luthiers and we have worked with them for many, many years (certainly over 15...perhaps 20?). They also do a lot of other high-end work, so they will be fine. In the end it is just much better to have everything under one roof right here in Brooklyn. If there remains big demand for the NYC's we can always make them...after all, they are our own designs and wonderful instruments in their own right, but if we make more down the road, they will come from here.
That said, you'll still see a few more of them as we work through the instruments that are in various stages of completion. They will mostly be sold through our Japanese Distributor...
