I'm in!

1st Fodera incoming. I hope it's all I want it to be. This model is pretty close to what I might have gotten had I ordered it new. Looking for something warm and deep with enough punch to be clear, without shrill highs for a sweet sounding fingerstyle sound, mostly. The Brazillian board is going to be especially sweet, I think.

I'm at least as nervous about getting it as eager. We shall see!

Just in time for me as I hit 20 years of playing the bass, and 10 as a full time pro this fall.

Hi gang

First of i didn't see any answers about that short scale Monarch from Mr Wellington's collection... My guess (and the wooden butterfly) is that this is one of the early basses made by Fodera just after the "Smith" era... Surely a true, fully playable collectible piece...

I also wanted to share the launch of some jazz fusion album we're releasing on thursday, the band is called J.ustin M.illot G.roup, all songs are composed by Justin (who is a HUGE fan of Allan Holdsworth's work, and I know u guys know him ^^) and this is great music... All the fretted work was done with my ash/mapple/spalted NYC and the fretless has got a Pope pre inside (plus the neck is shaped to be the same as my NYC)...
I have 2 solos over the 7 songs, one on "Train" and the 2nd on "Oxydogène", if anyone cares ^^

U can get infos (if u read french ^^) on Link Removed and listen to most of the songs on www.mupiz.com/jmt

It's also available through CD baby, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (we just sold an album in Japan so don't hesitate ^^)

(btw i'm now proud owner of 2 alder/ebony Foderas, one 98 NYC and a 92 Emperor II, I found myself happier with that wood combo than with the ash/mapple one, like i prefer single coils vs duals...)

Those 4 string monarch's of Anthony's.....one is a 30" scale piccolo, the other 32" scale tenor!!

I thought the cutaway would be a bit deeper, but I don't care. I'm psyched to do some recording!! :hyper:

I'm curious what the guys thought of it- it has to be one of the stranger combos they've ever made. I'd guess it isn't up Joey's alley!

I totally trust the Fodera crew's judgement on this, I was just curious. I assume you're right. I only ask because my bass is a 33" scale, as I believe this one is, and my bridge is further back. Everything feels right on my own bass so I'm curious as to how this bridge placement would effect the playability of the bass.

I was actually wondering that myself- it was ordered as a Monarch with a deeper cutaway to access the 28th fret, and it's a 33" scale. Given that it doesn't have a cutaway, my guess is that they just pushed the bridge forward to avoid having to carve a cutaway? I would think that would have a great effect on the balance because you are pushing the neck further out, so perhaps that was part of the consideration if the bass was too body heavy? I'm not sure.

I'm not sure, so I'm curious to hear as well.

Also, I want to be clear Angus that I'm not trying to take any wind out of your sails. Looks like a very special instrument. I was just voicing my curiosity. Seems you're curious about the same thing.

Did fodera not communicate and if need be, explain these things prior to really getting into building this instrument?

Nice looking instrument!:)
