I hate doing this as you know that we take the timing of orders INCREDIBLY seriously, but in the interest of complete disclosure, we hit a bit of a wall over the past month here in terms of getting things out the door.

First, the good news...things are very much getting back to normal again and we are anticipating that we will regain some of the ground that we lost since mid-December.

Now, the bad news...

Since mid-December we have had three snow days, Vinny had the Flu for 10 days, one of our other very key shop guys' Dad's had an emergency Heart Transplant, we had NAMM (during which Joey and I were out of the shop at the same time that Vinny caught the Flu) AND we introduced two new Fodera models (the Yin Yang Standard and the Viceroy). Even though all of the builds for NAMM and the new models were built into the schedule, the confluence of events had led to us running 3 weeks or so behind our stated delivery times.

Consequently, we began contacting customers today to make them aware of a five (5) week delay on all deliveries (compared with quoted dates). We will hopefully do better than this, but wanted to give a worst case scenario...

I am incredibly bummed by this turn of events, but it has been a Perfect Storm of sorts, and one that even with all of my business training, I simply could not forsee...

We will do everything humanly possible to get caught up without compromising the quality that you have come to expect from us, I promise!

Hi Jason, although I am not waiting for a bass I have to commend you on the above note. Delays happen, people get sick and that is life and business. The difference is that now, you and Fodera let people know what is going on. Just a few short years ago that wouldn't have happened. Customers can live with that.. they can't live with not knowing. So hopefully everyone is feeling better now and with the weather's cooperation you folks will be able to get back on top of things.
i raise a glass of red wine to you and the crew and may the wine flies stay away.. :-) Cheers

Although I'm not a customer, I would just want to say how much of a great job you do at keeping the full disclosure you said first when you got the job. I was a bit skeptical, but all my doubts have been long gone now.

I'm happy for the ones who ordered a Fodera to have you there.

+1

One of the easiest things you can do to keep customers happy is to always be honest. Sometimes it might upset them, but it will upset them a lot less than silence, excuses or lies, and it WILL help guarantee that they'll keep coming back. Honesty always the best policy and all that.

(Not to say that Fodera ever lied- I doubt they ever did- just a general statement.)

Talking about fretless: I'm playing fretless for more than 20 years now, but I never went for a fivestring. I can't really imagine a great sounding B string on a fretless. What are your experiences? Can you recommend some recordings on which a great sounding B string on a fretless can be heard?

I think I would prefer a high C.

I asked this a few pages back an appologize for the repost, but am real curious about it...

Is there anyone youtube-able who goes B-G.(in the case of a 5 string instrument).
Just wondering how the bottom B sounds on such a bass as compared to, say a 35" or 36" equivalent?

and...

What are the reasons, for choosing titanium as the bridge and truss rod material on some basses and what are , in your view, the benefits that set it apart from other materials?(aluminium comes to mind as one other lighter than brass material...in case weight is amongst the reasons)?

Thanks!
