Sweet! Let us know what settings you find that you like. I have mine set up as such:
Switch down: "low" lows & "mid" mids (deep lows, great tone for slapping)
Switch up: "high" lows & "high" mids (nice full low end, great solo tone)

I would bet that it is fairly light with the ash body.
Some time ago I've had a serious crash with my mountain bike. I'm still suffering from it and I'm no longer able to play a bass that's very heavy. I've got a 6-string Alembic which weighs a ton and it's impossible for me to play a gig with it.
Since my left hand is also handicapped after the crash I was looking for a fourstring which is not too heavy.
I don't know the exact weight of the Monarch, but I can say that it's quite comfortable for me. It's not extra-light. It's weighs more than my 77 Jazz, which also has a swamp ash body and a maple fretboard. Weight-wise it can be compared to my Pedulla MVP which is completely built from maple.

That's good.
I have found for me that a bass that's beyond 4.5kg won't get used much.
My current main instrument is a 5 string and weighs 4.2 kg. That works for me.
Will you be posting sound clips of your bass at some point?

Is that shorter bass( if it is indeed shorter) 33" and Is it tuned B-G?

The new Smug Mug page is just another great thing that Jason has brought to the Fodera company. Through Jason's hard work and dedication, Fodera has went from a business that seem unreachable that people knew little about, to a group of people that have a face and care. This is the change in perception that someone with true business acumen can provide for a business.
Great work, Jason! Looking forward to the photos. It's very cool to see the candid photos of the master craftsmen at work.

yea man.. I am really curious as well. I wanted to get used to it the was the fellas had it set up first... and now I am ready to experiment... Probably won't touch it before the gig Saturday (one of my rules, don't change anything right before a gig) but may start messing around on Sunday...

I am off for a much needed weekend away with my wife, so I will post briefly and answer several posts at once...
1. Compliments. Thank you very, very much for the kind words, however, it takes an entire team to make the turnaround that we have made in customer service happen and while getting some of the credit is cool, by no means is it fair for me to take more than a part of it. First off I am eternally grateful for our partners Joey and Vinny who believed enough in me to give our team the necessary latitude to make some very significant changes to the way things were being done.
We've now got Holly, Laura, Andy, Ernie and Ken (in addition to me) all working on customer service / "business." All of us are "new" Fodera faces since just October of 2010 and represent an increase in headcount of three (the two people we historically had handling customer service are no longer with us). Thank goodness we are blessed with enough demand that we can financially support this kind of staffing level. Remember, the partnership that we forged in 2009 has only two broad goals (managerially I am a big proponent of the KISS principle) --
a. Build a team of people as committed to excellence as Joey and Vinny are to ensure that our children's children will be able to buy Foderas that are built to the same level as they are presently.
b. Provide a Customer Service experience that is at the same level as the experience that our players have when they play our instruments.
2. Lincoln Goines. He has two fretted Foderas. His original one is 34" scale and his second is 33" scale (he also has a 33' feretless). Both are B-G and both have identical specs other than scale. Lincoln records with the 34" and gigs with the 33" (generally).
3. Photos of things around the shop. The website update was merely the first step down a coming multi-media path that will allow the entire Fodera Family (of which all of you are VERY important part) to be better connected than ever before. Stay tuned for our coming "Fodera in the Media" link which will enable you to have access to interviews, product reviews, etc. All with the click of a mouse...
Off to see the Barnes Collection before it moves into its new space...
