Finally got the call that my Yin Yang Custom will be done in 4 weeks!

Holly/Ebony top. Much like the Yin Yang standard, but the custom version. Like this one:

That will be a very very hard day to wait for the big brown truck.

Very nice. I still remember the day mine arrived. I worked from home that day so I'd be around when it showed up. My wife decided to stop by for lunch and said, "hun, I think your bass arrived. Something large is on the front porch."

Confused, I go take a look and, sure enough, there it is. I checked shipping. "Signature required." Oops, there, FedEx. Not even a knock or ring on the doorbell. Luckily all was fine.

I still lust after this one (with the maple neck), but alas my standard will be here sometime in September.

Brazilian and Kingwood CAN be very, very close (nearly exact) tonally. That said Kingwood (at least the material that we have sourced over the years) tends to have LESS variability in both look and tone than Brazilian. What these two woods are generally known for is hitting the "sweet spot" tonally. Brighter than Indian Rosewood, yet still warm, with highs approaching the clear, clean nature of Ebony...but not quite that bright.

As alluded to above, Ebony is the brightest FB material that we work with...brighter even than Birdseye Maple, which many people mistakenly think is the brightest...

Could you give us your opinion about the tonal difference between Kingwwood / Brazilian Rosewood / Ebony for a fingerboard material ?

I doubt she switched, her Sadowsky is a 4 this here is a 5, she most likely will play both and perhaps others down the line, many players have different brands unless they are endorsed players then they have to play that endorsement deal.

That is great to hear, many of her listeners/fans have associated her with that 4 string Sadowsky, having additional voices/sounds will add to her music nicely.

In terms of the control layouts...we just did a printed piece that will be shipping with each bass that shows EVERY current Fodera control layout and what everything does. It will also be posted on Monday on the "Proprietary Electronics" page under the "About Us" tab. Since it is not on the site yet, here is a summary:

Fodera 2-band:

Stacked Volume / Passive Tone
Pickup Blend Pot (pull for Passive Mode)
Bass
Treble

Fodera / Pope 3-band

Stacked Volume / Passive Tone
Pickup Bend Pot
Stacked Treble / Bass
Mids

Jason - where is the passive/active switch on the fodera/pope 3-band. is it a push pull like the 2 band??

The "control layout" Jason was talking about has been posted at the Fodera site, so you can check it out for more details. Basically, there's an additional switch (similar to the coil split switch) which acts as preamp bypass.
