Haha. Thanks Leon! Well, I am still visiting the shop later this month and plan to draw up an idea for an imperial 5. Not sure when it would actually be ordered, but "the plan" had been to get 2 5ers, emperor and imperial.

I certainly hope to experience that feeling some day. For now I am more than happy to wait for a gorgeous used emperor.

I expect that my visit to the shop in 2 weeks will be the beginning of my custom fodera journey though!

This is actually the first "used" bass that we have offered. Generally we ONLY offer Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) instruments which means that we have gone over every aspect of the bass to ensure that it meets as-new specs (electronic, finish, frets, etc.). For that reason, a CPO instrument carries exactly the same warranty as a new instrument.

A used instrument has not been put through the CPO process. In this case, the bass has the original pickups, preamp and a small finish blemish here or there. The reason that we are selling this based in used condition is that it belonged to a good friend of one of our luthiers who, unfortunately, had a serious health issue that required that he raise money fairly quickly. We are selling this instrument at absolutely no charge to him to help him out. For all intents and purposes, it is darn close to "as-new" but since we are making no money on the process, we cannot afford to provide the warranty...that is the only real difference.

With all of the talk about the Beast (which wold be well north of $15k now), no one answered what kind of top the AJP-Shaped Custom had. It is Brazilian Rosewood Burl...

We are making just three instruments from that piece. Two basses and one guitar. All three will be completed within the next 12-14 months. Very interestingly, we just took back an incredible Emperor II into the Certified Pre-Owned Program that came from a smaller, sister piece to the burl in the video. Look for that in the Newborn Section sometime in the next week or two! It will allow you a chance to see what this amazing wood looks like when finished...

great !! can't wait to see that.

wouldn't it be nice to feature a little Fodera guitar section in the newborns ? Since Vinny is a guitar player I would think that he would be also very proud to show them to the world too !?! :)
