Fodera Club Part XI

My '83 arrived today, looks so much nicer in the flesh than the pictures. Much darker, natural and more 'organic' :)

Sounds great and feels beautifully worn in.

Lots of differences to my '86 as well. Different, slimmer neck profile with a much more pronounced headstock volute. Also has a stomach cutaway whilst my '86 is essentially a slab body.

Such a nice little piece of history and it even came with Mike Bendy's old strap too - thanks Adam :)

yeah. my second fodera had the non-cutaway body (late 85). about ten years later i sent it back to get the cut.

That said, I guess I hadn't really thought about it till now, but the bass is pretty much perfect. Detail, playability and setup, and the sound is fantastic. The dual coils can get a great slap sound that is pretty close to a single coil sound. I have a particular electronics package that I like, but this bass is pretty close to is and really is just a beast to play and hear.

Was that bass shipped to him? I would swear I was in the shop when he picked it up... It could have been that he was having some work done on the day I'm thinking of.

Don't hold me to that Joel. I remember when that picture was posted on Oteil's website captioned "Oteil receives his fodera" or something like that.

funny. cause my first one had it---and it was pretty much "stock" (not custom like today) as vinnie/joey chose woods, etc. (i was an ash guy and they said walnut.)

second one didn't (but was made to the same specs for all intents and purposes) six month later.

but the others i have from 1989 and on are not slab bodies, but have the cut.

youre a good man dude. taking that debacle much better than i would.:D reminds me of ordering my super custom narrow spaced nordy 5 string jazz. i kept pushing for more **** and careys answer was "get more famous and we'll make whatever you want":p
