Lokire said:Thanks! Hiromi is a monster on piano. Truly one of the greatest (in my opinion). She's coming back to my area (saw her last time) with Anthony Jackson in March. Can't wait for that show!![]()
The second shoe dropped today, so to speak.

Interesting comparison between the two basses. I'm interested to get the Monarch in a mix - I already know the YYD kills in a dense mix. The Monarch is 8.3 lbs (well, actually 8.24) and very comfortable to play. The neck profile is a tad beefier than the YYD - a little more meat on the shoulder but it is subtle. Tonally between the two the Monarch is a bit deeper voiced but more polite in the mids. The YYD has more inherent mid punch (which surprised me a bit) and steps into "aggressive" territory more easily.
My hunch is that the Monarch would be the choice if I wanted to lean "vintage." The only thing I fear is that I am already deeply bonded with the YYD so it frankly is hard to pick anything else up

Glad it finally made its way home!!! BTW, I have been down for the count with a heck of a cold and strep throat...STILL haven't been back to the shop for fear of getting anyone else sick...

Cool - congrats. I've historically been a PJ type. I have yet to play a dual coil/soapbar that I bonded with but a Monarch likely would be a worthwhile experiment.
