Fodera Club Part XIII

back to topic :

next week my final lock in will be.

Funny thing is that the Bass will turn out as a totaly different beast that I thought about 9 month ago when I've ordered it ;)

But it will be great - I'm totaly sure :)

It is a complex issue.

Actually, Turkey is a candidate country since 1999. A big issue is that Turkey does not accept Cyprus as a independent nation. In fact though, Cyprus is already a member of the EU. Turkey occupies the north of Cyprus.

Another question, raised by conservative politicians, is if Turkey fits into the EU in terms of religious and cultural style (being a Muslim country).

ok - the changes are not that dramatic ;)

I only do change the top wood and since I found out about the new string/body heights on the Bolt-Ons I think I need to go with that - they don't have the Imperial Bolt-On shape so I need to change the shape too ;) - but it will be not an Emperor or a Monarch :)

The thing with the top wood was - I was about the "black-look" and ordered a Gaboon Ebony top.... but only three weeks later I was at a fine german luthier and he showed me all the different woods and let me "hear" them by knocking on them. And I just realized that a Gaboon Ebony top could affect the sound of my bass in a way that I don't want. (plus the weight ;))

Also I have realized through the last month that I got really tired of figured wood tops (at least on my bass) - so I always loved Holly and I do love white basses - so I came to the decision that this it the wood for me.

And I also became a big big fan of the Bolt-On sound the last years. The old Bolt-On Foderas had a big string/body height and that scared me :smug: - I need the height like on the Elites or like on a Fender Bass (with the pickguard of course) - but since Jason told us about the new BO design / neck height I totally had to think about my shape / neck construction again.

anybody knows what the two small "wood (or plastic?) stripes" do next to the PUs and the Ramp ??

Richard Bona also has it on his Bass....

I guess it has something to do with the angle of your wrist. The pickup covers are very close to the E-string. So your wrist has a tense position. If you play with this extra "ramp" or however you call it, your thumb is further away from your picking fingers which allows a less tense wrist position, the wrist is straighter than before.

This is an advantage over the traditional style, especially if you tend to play close to the bridge.

Then there is the fact that part of the country is not in europe and the conflict with regards to armenia.

-> The effect is that you have a distance from the "rail" to the E-String like on a 5 string. This is why playing on a 5 string is more relaxed for the right hand.

I had these on a Monarch 4 where they covered the routings of previously installed larger pickups. Richard Bona installed EMGs after-market and they were smaller than the original Dual Coils.

That's all. MIDI controllers are installed in parallel to the pickups - not along the strings.

ah - I remember - he switched the Pickups from the real old ones to the EMGs....

Hi Jason,

I took upon myself to start a poll to see which neck type is more popular, and the early consensus appears to be the bolt-on. Would you happen to know of how many Fodera has built of each respective type in Fodera's history?

I can't wait to hear the difference and opinion when these basses are completed:

The only thing different will be the neck construction. One will be a Bolt-on, one a Dovetail and one a Neck through.

We plan on then having one of our artists play exactly the same track with each instrument and record them so that all of us can hear the difference for ourselves.

If you check the newborn page, you will have a good overview of how many of which type are build. I think there are more and more Elite models, because of the look, the versatility and the reduced price difference in comparison to some years ago where a Elite was much more expensive than a BO

what you see on the Newborn section is only a selection - they do put out more basses than we know ;)
