1+ ! I really find it funny that the colour of my Holly bass is nearly the same as it's the colour on my wall where my basses are hanging ;) - in the right light you can't see the edge of the Bass anymore seeing it from the side (it starts to blend with the wall ;) ) you only can see the Pickups and then you know the Bass is still there ;)

Actually this bass is come with AERO pickups!
And the newest preamp is good ,but I prefer the original one!
When you set with mid select switch ,the sound will become soft and weak!
So I set it back to killer switch (mute switch) like original one!

Totally ,it is a great bass with clear attack and warm bottom!
The neck is really easy and fast to play!
I like the small fret on Fodera bass!
(I have owned another Imperial II that come with small fret!)
You can get lower action with small pickup!
And small fret will get wormer sound than Large fret!

Finally I add a Koa ramp and wood knobs that made by my-self on this bass!ImageUploadedByTalkBass1366970055.296166.jpg

It is normal weight on Fodera basses!
Although Fodera basses always heavier than other basses!
But I think the mass(quality) of the body wood will effect the sound!
So I don't care about the weight on Fodera basses!

Hi Rich, absolutely agree with you regarding MOP inlays, to me it makes for a great contrast, not to say I have anything against blank fingerboards.

I don't think anyone should or will take offence at your opinion, after all that's what this forum' about. My quote regarding Walnut & not as "exciting" was more to do with how the two wood combo's compared "off the page." Not a great analogy but I imagine myself sat in a 5star michelin restaurant, the waiter presents me with the menu and I run my eyes over the selection. To me a dish that has a variety interesting ingredients and spices begs the question"I wonder what that tastes like ?" As opposed to the dish that I have frequently and know, love & appreciate. I own a walnut(body & top) ebony f/b bass and love it, but every now and then I see a combo that stirs the imagination..

I don't understand why walnut body with an ebony board is being described as "not exciting." (No offense to anyone, I just don't understand) If this bass had an ash neck it'd be a lot like the Matt Garrison wood combo that's become so popular. But this one has a rock hard maple neck, which probably makes it slightly brighter than a MG. I'd be excited to own it. Just my two cents.

Rarer woods makes resale a little tougher. So the pink ivory bass would be harder to sale if you weren't comfortable with the 36" scale.

Hi Hou,

I ordered the Fender Restorer from a store and after 3 weeks it still hadn't turned up. So I found a UK supplier for "Pure Mineral Oil." I bought it off Amazon and it works a treat. Just follow Jason's instructions and you can't go wrong.

I used a little too much on the 0000" steel wool, so the board got a little soaked, but no problem just wipe off the excess. One golden rule "Never-ever" go against the grain of the wood. I got impatient and on the very last fret and rubbed against the grain (from side to side) and it's left some very faint marks. Other than that it's great!!;)

I got some from the local pharmacy. It is used as a laxative but hopefully I can avoid that application. I didn't use steel wool, instead going with the instructions on the web site of using a soft cloth. I had to wipe it down fairly hard first (without oil) to get rid of accumulated gunk as this bass gets played a lot. Then wipe on, let sit for a few minutes, wipe off. I went across the grain but since I was using cloth instead of the steel wool I didn't notice any issues.

Beautiful piece of wood - I love ebony fingerboards and can't wait to see the pieces the guys picked for the twins.

It sure does breath life into the wood, I'm sure I heard my Ebony board breath a big sigh of relief!!

If the frets are tarnished it'll clean and shine them too, but I did notice (maybe because I applied too much)that the oil would build-up against the frets, so I used Qtips and wiped along the frets. Now the neck is another matter..:D

Q, Have you polished the body of your basses and given that you have a YYD (half Holly-half Ebony) will that require more care?
