Jason that was a great read. Sounds a lot like a friend of mine who is in the Koa woodworking business. A small shop of very dedicated fanatics that love their craft. He tells me the same thing with regards for some customers scoffing at the 2-3k price tag for a Koa jewelry box. I've seen what these folks do and the amount of effort into making something of immense detail. For those that don't get it, yeah maybe it's not for you. I've seen too many businesses with a revolving door of employees that in the long run never make it. Keeping a dedicated and passionate work crew with a great management team is the long term road to success and from what I can see Fodera will be doing what it's doing for many years to come. For me, each time I pick up my E5S I think of the great bunch of people that put this fine instrument together that allow all of us bass players to create great music, the pricing is money well spent.

do you go with Top and Back or which one did you choose ?

I just go for top, no back.

It is the same wood, differents pictures and light.
And on the picture with the layout, the two parts are inversed.(or in the final position)

Others specs are :

Walnut body
Alder tone block
Ebony FB
MG design and layout
17,5 mm
Ebony ramp
Ebony pups cover with exposed poles
2-3 head-stock
24 normal size frets
3 pieces maple neck
B to G strings

And about 6 more months to wait....

My first idea when I contacted Jason was an ash body and a maple FB....
I learned a lot by choosing those final specs, and Jason helped a lot also.

What tone are you going for?

I want a warm but clear and dynamic tone.

I play almost only jazz, so I want to be confortable in the low but also be good in the hight
for playing melody and chorus.

I think the koa top would open a little bit the mid from the walnut body.

Finally decided to go with this gorgeous quilted maple for my Emperor Elite II. I'm going for that classy blonde looks.
Body specs is exactly the same as Artie's Reynolds Signature series. Great player!!
Very excited! should be in production this coming september.
