I was looking at at least a dozen top options and kept coming back to this one. Not sure why it wasn't a big upgrade but I am not complaining.

Those tops are nice! However that guy in the 55 bar last wednsday (the early show) with his emperor 5 to my ears souded even better than james genius last thursday with mason brothers at the same place (man that giant steps/dear john was amaizing.. Kikoski killed on the rodes).james also plays an emperor 5 with some fancy top. And not to mention that james iis a good friend of mine..
Edit: that emperor 5 string guy has played with leny stern . Wednsday late show.

No worries.... I still need to pay for the rest of my 2nd Fodera! The 3rd (IF it happens) is stil a ways away.;)

I am waiting for the super top secret Fodera Standard fretless that Jason and team are considering building later this year. I cant justify a custom standard as I don't really play fretless enough. He mentioned potentially building a Standard fretless in this thread a couple of weeks ago.

You could always buy a YYS and rip out the frets.

Exactly exactly exactly.

While a $10,000 Fodera may not be 10 times better than a $1000 Fender or 100 times better than a $100 SX, one thing that is undenyable about Fodera and other botiques is the extent to which the love shows.

When I posted pictures of my new-to-me but broken-by-somebody-else FBass BNF5, within a couple hours, Marcel Furlanetto had shot me a PM congratulating me on my new aquisition and offering to have it fixed up if I am ever in their vicinity. If I had called Fender to complain about a twisted neck on a USED P Bass, I would have gotten hung up on so fast, I doubt I'd even be charged for the call.

Compare this to my new Fauxdera. It arrived with DOA electronics. Even though I bought it new and the seller promised 100% satisfaction, when I asked for a replacement set up pickups the seller gave me the runaround by way of about 15 poorly translated messages. If I got a Fodera that was DOA, Vinnie, Joey, and Jason would probably be at my front door within twenty minutes of my NBD post. And my house is 45 minutes away from the Fodera shop.

No question that the human factor is what makes most any special company special. So sad that this is so often forgotten by the people running the companies and tolerated by customers.

Monaco GP in under 3 hours! Now, down to the studio to play a few Monarchs, then an Espresso or two (sadly, decaf these days) and then hoping that Alonso can pull a rabbit out of his gearbox!!

It's funny...Joey, Vinny and I have often spoken about the fate of our meeting and how it was just destined to happen. On matters of building the instruments, aesthetics, tone, quality, etc., it's like we almost share one brain...which is pretty wild!

That said, I would be remiss if I did not point out that Fodera today is far, far more than just the three of us and everyone on our team shares our passion, perfectionism and love of what we do. Our job is to continue setting that stage. Providing the environment...the direction, setting the standards, demanding that "okay" is never an option. But, in the end, we are building Fodera to ensure that if any one of the three of us -- or, eventually, all three of us -- is no longer here, our spirit of excellence, caring for our extended family (i.e. co-workers and customers) and ability to produce art that creates art will live on.

...I had no idea what kind of guy you were. I've never been so disappointed in my life. :p

Then again, I know Button isn't going to win with that terrible McLaren.
