I don't know the owner, but I'm sure that his price for the bass is cheaper. You can ask the shop for the single / dual truss rod info.

i'm not worried about the age at all. it just depends if you like that era/style—which i do!
i like the style, but not the Bartolini pickups... And if I change them to Fodera / Duncan pickups there will be holes in the wood from the screws.

*but*, $10,500 with 21% of it being vat is a no-go for me. i've gotten similar fodera aj6s for less than half of that.
Wow. Talk a about a super sales tax. We had one here like that right about that time period in a local music shop that once had a lot of great high end instruments. It was 3k at the time, why I never bought one I will never know.
Most of Canada is 13% tax (federal and provincial) on almost all goods (exceptions are most food, baby clothes, etc.)
If I have a bass shipped anything other than UPS, that is all I pay (still way too much IMO). If the UPS scumbags are the courier, I could pay as much as 20-30% in various fees (clearing, handling, brokerage, etc.). In any case, I refuse to buy anything that would be shipped UPS.
I am lucky that I vacation in NYC (but stay in NJ) and also my head office is in NJ. That even saves me the 8.75% NY State tax on my new Custom.

are you sure about the holes from screws being seen after putting Duncans? I think they Duncans are larger then Bartolini's+plus screws, check the pic...

Hey Jason, if I purchased a Monarch standard or a yin/yang standard, down the line could I upgrade the preamp and pickups to what you guys put in the 10000$ instruments?

The upper bass pictured has narrow spacing, so you are comparing apples/oranges.
That's not the problem. The Duncan dual coils would fill the route AND the holes.
But the internal structure of the Barts is not similar to the Duncans. They are Precision-type pickups in a soapbar cover (upper 3 strings closer to the neck). That's why the position of both pickups is not exactly at the sweet spot of the Duncan dual coils. Regardless whether you take their 60s or 70s positions as a benchmark. Especially the bridge pickup will be closer to the bridge than usual. This will have impact on sound of course.

You could change the PUP's on the M4S (the PUP's on the YYS are the same as for the Customs), but the preamp configuration on the Monarch / Yin Yang Standard that is drilled into the bass will not match the Custom Shop Preamp.

Most of those Bart soapbars made for Fodera are P style pickups in a soapbar housing but some of them were dual coils. I should know, I have two sets of them. As for the bass for sale in Spain, I don't know, but it looks like it has two Dip switches. Since the HazLab has no midrange control I would guess that one switch is the mute while the other would be a coil tap; hence those pickups are probably duals.
Still, I wouldn't do it. You can't get those Bartolinis and the HazLab new any longer. Leave some of these classic basses as they were intended to sound like. If all the Fodera sixes out there have Duncan duals and Pope preamps it's less 'biodiversity' out there, if you know what I mean.
OP - have you tried the bass? What is it about the electronics you don't like? Those Barts don't sound like regular off the shelf Barts - they're much brighter and quite hi fi - really sweet in the upper register. And people really rave about the HazLab preamp.
