The Foderas go to every gig no matter where they are. The basses are insured, and everything can be replaced...except time and health. If a gig is too sketchy for my bass, then it is too sketchy for me. I've played dive bars with my instruments without a second thought.

You know, you made two good points. I should insure them. Do you have any recommendations for insurance companies? Is it separate instrument insurance? Pm or email me if you like.
Also "life's too short to sound bad" ... Lol. ... That might just make the s---t bass go back...
That's another first run that will sell out quickly.
Just a question of string spacing and body style
I take mine every place but after each set it is back in my exceptionally padded Double Fodera Gig bag!! Plus I watch it like a hawk and italways at the back of the stage behind me out of the reach of anyone or drunks!!! Thats waht i got them for there made to play them not set at home.
I'm with Anderson - no complaints. Typical homeowners/renters will not cover instruments that are taken out to gigs.
Life is way to short to drag around lesser instruments when you've got a Fodera at home. The only reason a non-Fodera goes on one of my gigs is because:
a) I want to cop an upright vibe as much as possible (take the RA)
b) I want a more "vintage" look (take the Lull P4)
Frankly, as of late neither of those exceptions are getting followed. I dig the tone I get out of my Monarch 5 fretless and I don't give a crap what the drummer thinks my bass should look like

IMHO, it's simple...
Don't buy anything you won't use.
Don't buy a bass you won't play.
Why spend your hard earned money doing nothing more than being the caretaker for some future owner? Screw that person. You paid for it, YOU enjoy it.

I don't worry about people trying to rob me or anything. I don't gig or anything, I only play at my church. But not only do I bring my bass to bad neighborhoods, I also carry a Glock 26.

Well put. I'm down to 3 electric basses, from a high of 6 (and an upright), and I've been through 16 instruments in 7 years. Which isn't much by some standards, I suppose. And the selection is all utilitarian. (1) Fodera, (2) stock Fender P-Bass for, like Nostatic said, a vintage look (which, of course, I never end up gigging with), and (3) my first bass, a '98 Squier jazz, defretted.
However, I am gassing heavily for a 6-string bolt-on.
....maybe in the Imperial shape and released sometime in 2014...

IMO there is nothing worse than a world class bass laying in its case or hanging on a wall not seeing any action. When the band I was playing in had a break, I put my bass in gig bag and have it on me at all times. If drunks were jumping on stage I would grab my cheap bass and give my Celinder to my girlfriend. She loves that bass almost as much as I do.
I've brought my Emperor 5 to a few open mic nights without much of a worry. When not playing, I keep it in sight or on my back in my igig bag. A guy did ask me to use it once, and i kindly said "sorry man, I don't let anyone else play this one." to which he responded "Oh, I know exactly what you mean...I'm the same way with my Ibanez that I bought last year!" Everything's relative I guess.

Hi Len, yeah it's the one with the crazy chestnut top. I think the story is that the chestnut log had some kind of infection that gave it the crazy figuring. It plays great, just needs a fine tune. The bridge spacing is 19mm but I'd like to get it down to 18mm.
