+1. My Imperial has a 1 piece Braz RW top as well. Totally a meaningless upgrade other than aesthetically, but it sure is nice looking. Def not a fan of E-C but this bass is going to be gorgeous!

Yeah I wrestled with the tuning for a long time. Luckily this can be changed relatively easily. I imagine it will be strung up both ways before I settle on a permanent configuration.

Unlike many top woods, BRW definitely imparts its sonic signature on our instruments. It's more of a significant flavor than a main ingredient, but it's definitely more than mere cosmetics. IMHO, of course.

I hope I have the kind of ears that can tell the difference! But even if I don't, the look (and smell!) of the rosewood are worth it to me.

Cool we are going to get our basses very close to each other. Mine is due late August early Sept. Look forward to the Talkbass pictures ,and the Newborn pics. The way time moves these days it will be here before we know it!

I received my Production Start Date today. It will start the first of January and will be completed around the first of April 2015. I just got through an agonizing 2 year wait with another builder. The bass was delivered in August and I said I would NEVER go through that again! It's a great bass and plan to keep it.
Then I bought an Emperor 5 Standard. It is an amazing instrument in every way. I have had it for almost 6 months and I'm still in love with it. But I kept hearing the Standards are like a gateway drug. I didn't deny that they were BUT with my current financial situation I knew there was no way I could justify a custom Fodera. Until last week when I got the Fodera Club e-mail. When I saw that they had a partially finished Emperor body that was being offered at a 20% discount I knew this was my chance, my only chance to order a custom anytime in the near future.
Plus, if I was going to place an order it would have been an Emperor, Alder body and probably a Walnut top. I didn't waist any time discussing this with my CFO so I jumped on it as quick as I could! And now here I am with my Production Start Date in hand. I'm REALLY excited and actually looking forward to the waiting process. Now I just need to figure out how to keep the bass I waited 2 years for AND my E5S.

I feel your pain on waiting I am fifteen months in on another builder ,and don't know when it will be ready. You will find a away to keep all of your basses. I suggest the Boutique Bass Diet. Scrambled eggs in the morning ,Tuna and vegetables for lunch. Chicken breast and veggies for dinner. I buy it all at Costco the first of the week. When I wrote down how much money I was spending on take out food for two weeks I thought h@$& s@$t! If I cut this out, my bass will be 90% paid for by the time it arrives. Lose weight, healthier lifestyle,and a Fodera

Funny, I am doing the same thing.

Not just to buy a Fodera and drop a few lbs but I added up how much $$$ my family actually spends going out for lunch on the weekend, sushi takeout for dinner a couple of times a month, etc. INSANE when you actually add it up. Worst part is that I am in sales (as is my wife) and expense nice customer lunches and dinners all the time. Going out to a restaurant isnt an exciting event, it's just being lazy and avoiding cooking at home.

In any case, I have a late fall completion date on my 2nd Custom and I have to save for that baby as the Canadian $$$ is tanking and I an torn regarding selling my E5S to pay off the outstanding balance. My Monarch 5 Deluxe is killer and I do prefer it to my E5S but the E5S is different (in a good way) and still an amazing bass.

At least with Fodera I have a very good idea when my bass will be ready and when payment is due. I can't imagine working with a builder that delays delivery dates as a few often do.

Baird, I love the Walnut top on your Monach. I requested a top similar to yours and Todd's but they sold out of that billet,so I decided on Crotch Walnut. The Spalted Mango is going to look incredible also. I still can't believe after 18 years wanting a Fodera I have one on order I am so grateful.

All the walnut I saw in Brooklyn was killer so any Crotch will likely look amazing. My mango will also look very cool and I can't wait to see it completed. Only 7-8 months to go!
