That really is a versatile set up you have there! I've actually mostly gone over to 4 strings myself(with the octave pedal when necessary). What pedal are you using now?

I have been using mostly an octamizer, but just picked up an MXR BOD to put on my smaller board. So far I think I might be preferring the BOD, but I have to get it out on a gig. They both do a great job of thickening and getting to the bottom of things (pun intended).

Life is temporary, and so should GAS be. I'm sure I'll come up with some new thing to try, but for now any other instruments would be to add some capability I don't have rather than to try and fulfill some short-coming. The YYD remains the favorite, the M5 handles extended range up, and the non-standard finally got to the "just right" stage with the swap. Any limitations are mine, not the instruments.

Finally back in! I traded this Monarch last October for an MGS. I didn't really take to the MGS though, sounded and played great but I just didn't like the tight space for slapping with 26 frets! Anyway, I was lucky enough to be able to buy back my Monarch and it arrived this morning!

The body look to me like it's based on the shape of Anthony Jackson's original contrabasses with Fodera. The serial number seems to reference that. I asked the seller for the serial number. It is C5B1753ER. On second look, the serial number doesn't go with the description. The description says 2010, but the serial number, 1753, dates to late late 2000. (My own Fodera was made at that time and is numbered 1750.)

Jason, can you offer any insight on this instrument?

Yes, that TOTALLY looks like Bobby Watson's bass. Might as well just say that it is / was Watson's bass.

I can look into it later today when I have a chance to VPN into our database. A few things that I can offer now...

1. There is no way that bass was built in 2010. I agree that bases on the serial number it looks more like around 2000.

2. That does look like the same instrument in the Bobby Watson video...at least from the front.

Strange because in some of the pictures it looks like it has a maple fingerboard, and in others it clearly has a rosewood (or darker) fingerboard.

I like the shape, always liked the old Anthony Jackson shape. If I ordered a sig string it would be a smaller 33" scale version of one of Anthony's first foderas.
