Fodera Club Part XXVII

I'd be interested to know how many people have swapped the pickups out on their bass. Whether with came with EMGs Duncan's or Aguilar's and you switched to something else.

I've been long time lover of SD dual coils but really like what Aguilar has to offer.

The bass in my avatar has Duncan's and it's probably the best sounding bass of all that have come through the shop. Having said that, I'm always keen to hear how different pick-ups sound.

Without further ado, my first Fodera.

Oh, wow! That's the only bass I'm gassing for right now. I have the YY4, and I want a 5, because that's what I primarily play, and the YY feels SO good. Of course, I want 17mm string spacing, so mine will be a little tougher (more "custom").
Enjoy, and congrats!
Mine is 16.5 mm and I love it :)

I'll admit, the 19mm spacing is CRAZY huge for me. I've been used to 16.5 and for the last year been happy and comfy with 17.5 but THIS... will take some time to get used to. I was only able to play it for an hour yesterday but I've got a 4 day weekend so plenty of time to play... unless my wife goes in to labor. Either way, massive win for me.

I can imagine. My bass teacher loves that wide spacing because he plays a lot of funk (thump-pluck). I'm more fingerstyle, and I love the tighter spacing. I have a 6er with 14mm spacing!

Wow, 14mm is super tight. I used to own a Yamaha BB 5000 with 15mm spacing and that had me paying attention big time. My avatar bass has 17.5 and it's ideal for fingerstyle and chords.

Mine is an Ibanez GVB-36; it's Gerald Veasley's sig bass. He only plays fingerstyle, and he likes very tight spacing. I won the bass in a drawing at his boot camp a couple years ago. It's impossible to thump-pluck on, but it feels great otherwise. I wouldn't order a bass with that spacing voluntarily, though. I have three 5ers with 16-17mm spacing, and that suits me well.
