It doesn't appear that the goal will be to make a "cheaper" Fodera- just a more time-effective one that will help reduce their backlog.

If they have such a business going on why dont they start educating some new luthier(s) to expand their production? if i were to be a luthier the oportunity to work under foderas tutition would be priceless.

I can't imagine that they'll charge 4.000-5.000 for a Bass like that (as it's said above) ..... if so it'll be a great hot deal to order it from Europe these days

These are basses that will be built if they have the extra unpaid for parts and there will be no customization at all. They are for the people who want a Fodera now but do not want to wait. I was hoping for the same thing. No such luck. You should have seen my face when she told me $8,500. I said, "Okay, is that the list price?" Only to my surprise she said "No." ugghhh. Oh well, I do have two kidney's and I only need one to survive.....

There is no delivery time. You do not order it at all. You basically call to see if they have one ready and if they do it is yours. If not, you can try again. I am curious if they are going to do a wait list. I would hate to call daily trying to land one.

Most guys willing to shell out $8500 for a bass will be willing to wait the extra year (or two) to get the bass with the exact specs they want. I've no doubt that they'll all sell either way though

OTOH if these have what you need and its ready to take home it might be really your luckiest day if you call and get one.

I've been through ordering and waiting for a Fodera two times - but I guess this is enough and I'm sure no one of the Essense Basses will be leftys

Notice most touring pros stil use fenders. Ill pee on my neighbors foot for 3 grand! Sheesh!

Notice most classical string players don't play anything under $20,000. Don't think that because we've been spoiled by mass-produced basses and guitars that it's what the standard price should be for handmade master luthier-created instruments.

They really must have gone up yes. I ordered mine in 2002 and I added a few options to my Imperial 5 and only paid $5,000. Painful, just painful.........
