For those of you with more than two bass guitars, why?

Did you know that, every year, thousands of basses are subjected to physical and musical abuse at the hands of cruel, inconsiderate owners?

Did you know that a human thumb, in the wrong hands, can be used as an offensive weapon?

Here, at Doctor J's "Thumbs Down" Foundation, we're spending whatever money we have spare to give basses a better life, free from the tyranny and relentless clacking of rampant thumb abuse. Our basses are free to roam in a slap-free environment, as nature intended. However, for every bass we save, we know there's another bass out there in torment. I call upon you all to contribute to this worthy cause. Together, we can make a difference.

Help me help basses less fortunate. Donate today and I promise I will buy more basses and guarantee they will never be slapped again.

Like The Fonz says, "Put those thumbs down, you schmuck! Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

That's why.

Because I like to feel like Smaug sitting on my mountain of treasures.

Or it could be that I need a 4 and a 5 in 3 different places. One set stays at work, one stays in my home practice space and one is for practicing back in the states when I visit. On top of those 3 sets, I have my fretless, my first bass and a traveler that my wife bought me.

Or it could be that I can't bear to sell 3-5 of them (the non sentimental ones) for the paltry sum that they will bring. Yes, I could put that toward another "nice" bass but I actually like and play all of them. I have no need for another nice one. Want, yes...need, no.

Fender Jazz MIJ (modified)
FrankenFender Precision (Home build)
Fender FSR PJ MIM with EMG GZR pups
Defretted Lakland Skyline 4402

all four string and sound very different from each other. I could probably get away with owning just 2 of them (PJ and the Lakland) but I couldn't bare to part with any of them. It'd be like selling off a family member.

I count 60 here. 4,5 and 6 strings,fretted and fretless,long and short scale,passive and active,solid acoustic and semi hollow.
3 models have doubles so are strung different. Some sport flats or nylons and some roundwounds.

A small few were got for looks ( Mockingbird and acrylic body) and some kept for nostalgia.

I'm sure not gonna limit myself to one " made in america fender, music man, thunderbird or RIC "
