For you SX haters!!!

anyone make an attempt at reshaping the bat-thick neck? I don't have an SX but would probably take a swing at a reshape , maybe go for the 59-P wide/flat thing.

Not coming at you, but how do you know you won't like the SX neck if you don't have one? I found all my SX necks to be very comfy. You might like them too.

As to reshaping, ya, sure, why not? If it is what you want. The only thing I did was scuff up the back of the necks to give them a more satin feel.

The best advice is to try one or buy one and see what you think.

No, you're paying for different woods and better salaries of Mexican employees. There's something VERY, VERY right going on regarding quality control on those Asian countries, though...

Agreed! And why does this surprise anyone? It happened once before with Japan. The basses coming from Japanese makers in the late 70's and in the 80's were really fantastic in many cases. So history is repeating itself but this time in more countries than just Japan.

I think I'm going to try out an SX. I'll be ordering a left handed model, can anyone make a suggestion? I was thinking about the SJB 75 LTD if they're in stock, or maybe a P/J. Wish the website listed a lefty SJB 75 B MRD, those look nice. ;)

To make things simple in the future, would fellow members of the forum who never owned/played/tried a bass in question refrain from commenting about the quality of the said bass. :)

For example, I never owned/played/tried an Ibanez or Yamaha bass and I would never dare to comment about their respective quality, playability and usefulness. :smug:

It only makes sense. ;)

I see as much modding of the Fenders and boutiques going on as I do the SX's. I doubt if those guys are recouping their money on the resale either...
Ditto~! There are just as many boutiques as any other that are in just as much need of rework, whether by need or desire by the owners. Everyone is looking for some mysterious tone that they won't get until they return to the TRUE bass tone, i.e.: UB

You could get a lefty SJB and install (or have someone install) a black bound neck. All you're talking about is a little work and some red metalflake paint . . .

That would be common sense, and we don't allow any of that here! :smug:

+1

Also, I can't stand the posts that say "it sounds like S***" with no further explanation. In most cases I simply assume the poster would be more accurate writing "I play like S***." ;)

You are not complex by any stretch.
