Formula 1/F1/Formula One

Well since the cat is out of the bag and all.... yeesh, yeah, Merc not even making it to Q3 is a mind blower. If you would've told me Merc was going to struggle this bad this year prior to the season I would've thought you're loco!

I can't help but feel bad for George Russell. The kid is talented, there's no doubt of that. I definitely feel like he was being held back at Williams by one of the worst cars on the grid. Now that he's on the team that has absolutely dominated F1 for years and it's their worst start to a season in how long?

I wonder if Lou/Lew/whatever would have reconsidered his seat if he'd known what 2022 was going to be like?
So, we can''t discuss today's sprint race, yet? :(

It's been pretty obvious that the porpoising effect with the new cars has been affecting Mercedes pretty hard, and I've been wondering how that's impacting the drivers. Sometimes the onboard cameras really pick up how much these cars are bouncing down the track, especially on straights. Apparently George Russell is having a time with it, despite bringing home a P4 for Merc yesterday.

The new helmet view is very telling. Even the camera above the seat seems to be picking up the crazy oscillations. Those Mercedes (and the one Ferrari left in the race) seemed very bouncy.
It's a credit to the drivers that they can even compete.

I'm in favor of rotating it (and other races) in and out of the calendar. Building a little anticipation for some of these tracks (be it for nostalgia or truly great racing) is a smart move. A slightly different array of races each year? Yeah, I would dig that.

But if this is the plan, man... please, oh please, someone... build some new tracks worthy of the current cars.
