Haas to reveal their '23 car online on Tuesday... Red Bull on Friday... Williams next Monday.

Maybe there should be a IMSA/WEC thread, lots there to talk about especially now that the WEC and IMSA are in alignment.

NBC/USA broadcast crew got excited about the return of the GTP glass to the series, but it didn't seem to be that big of a deal as there's been a top prototype class that usually runs and looks cooler than the other classes. This year, GTP incorporated an expensive KERS-like system. What did I miss?

Maybe there should be a IMSA/WEC thread, lots there to talk about especially now that the WEC and IMSA are in alignment.

2023 Haas revealed online today...

There has always been a top tier prototype class, Personally I'm fond of the pre digital age Group C cars of the late 80's and early 90's because I was there to see them, the Jaguar XJR , Toyota/Gurney american eagle and so forth. Fast forward to present day and you now have the European FIA/WEC hyper car rules in alignment with American IMSA prototype GTP class so it truly is an International series going forward. The next race at Sebring in March will feature teams like Ferrari and Pugeuot coming to america to race and IMSA teams competing on both sides of the pond as well.

I thought if there were any interest in the sports car side of things there is no shortage of classes of cars and circuits to discuss

As much as I love the bubble cockpit sports cars, I dig the open-cockpit cars as well. The Ferrari 333 and Penske's RS Spyder are two of my faves.

I thought if there were any interest in the sports car side of things there is no shortage of classes of cars and circuits to discuss

I grew up during the golden age of Can Am, saw all the greats race , McLaren, Hulme, Donahue, etc. sadly that era is no more but you can still see some of these cars in vintage series racing. There are some group C cars here in the states but I think the majority of them reside in Europe these days

Start a thread and I'm in. I've been a fan since the Ford vs. Ferrari days, although the only time I got to see a full field of those cars racing in person was at Watkins Glen in '68.

In F1 you have a defined field of 20 so you pretty much know the cast of characters, IMSA and WEC is quite a bit more crowded , 61 cars started Daytona last weekend. I suppose we could start one just for sport car racing in general encompassing present day as well as the vintage series stuff.

I'm in for the sports car thread (or expansion of this thread) too. Been a fan of CanAm, Group C, endurance racing, Le Mans and American LeMans, and of course F1 since I first got turned on to them via ABC's "Wide World of Sports" in the early 1960s ("the agony of victory... the thrill of defeat"). My first and only chance to see any of this in person was the American LeMans Cadillac GP race at RFK stadium in Washington DC in 2002. It was fantastic. The course was laid out in the RFK parking lots and you could get up close and personal in the pits. Unfortunately it was a one time only event. RFK's "neighbors" complained that it was too loud and that was the end of that.

Plus, the drivers in each car could change from race to race.

I'll give you its a bit more to keep track of with 4 or 5 classes of cars running at the same time and true the cast of drivers can and will change during the season, some extra star power is brought on to help out in the endurance end of the series. I figured it would be more about the cars and the teams rather than whose behind the wheel, and yes its a bit different dichotomy than F1.

FYI, I did go ahead and start a sports car racing thread and I invite anyone that wants to share there observations on current events or memories of past events to check it out.

The Alfa's gonna have to grow on me. I don't hate it... but I don't love it. The different variations of the red & white cars looked better than this. Martin Brundle made a good point -- on an overcast day, this one will be hard to identify from far off as there aren't any popping colors on the car.

In the cars unveiled so far, I like the Haas livery the most. I still cringe that Williams is gonna make us look at a re-hash of that dark blue turd, especially when they could've done something fun with the Gulf colors. One of the car designers online posted a camo scheme in the Gulf colors that looked decent.

I personally love the Alfa's design. All the bodywork and engineering changes make total sense and I hope they can capture the time they left on the table. Plus those new black suits are
