Free Elixir 20ft cable

I live in NW Philly. Nothing yet here. Unless, of course, it's buried in the 2 feet of snow outside somewhere.
I'll be checking it out over the next week.
I played through it last night at rehearsal and then this morning at church. I'm really liking this cable. I A/B'ed with my Bayou cable and I can really tell a difference in tone. It seemed that my notes were more articulate and clearer. The highs were higher, mids were more defined, and low end was also a little more defined but not as much as the mids were. This is a perfect cable for gospel cats. I played a lot of that this morning and my bass was on fire. I was messing around after church with both cables and asked 2 random people who had no musical experience whatsoever. Both of them said they also heard a difference, one saying that my bass sounded louder and the other saying that he couldn't put his finger on it but there was a definite difference. I asked if it sounded fuller, which is my opinion on what it does with my tone, and said yes, very much so.
I went to my parent's house for dinner after church, which is where I'm at right now actually, and was talking to my dad about this cable. He knows a lot about electricity and electronics, being an electronic engineer and working in that field for so many years in the military. I asked him how could a cable enhance my tone. He asked me if there was a size difference in the cable itself. I said yes, it's almost twice as thick. He then replied that the cable, being larger and being made of higher quality components, could allow more bandwidth to pass through and that would cause a definite difference in tone. I'm still mystified in how this cable works though.
My personal opinion about this cable is that if you're looking for a classic Jamerson P Bass tone then this cable isn't really for you, since you can get that tone easier by using a normal $10 GC cable. However, if you like a little more articulation in your playing, like say some of you gospel cats or modern jazz players, then I'd definitely check out this cable.

A couple things:
1. the stiffness is indeed terrible. first of all, it doesn't roll up nice and clean like canare or mogami cable (or any other high quality cable for that matter, including monster). Also, it would be terrible to move around stage with this cable.
2.the connectors are bulky, but they seem sturdy. i tried to take them apart to see how good the solder joints were, but they don't seem to come apart.
3. tone? absolutely no difference to my ears with a 20 foot straight to straight livewire cable from guitar.
would i ever pay $70 to buy this cable? nope.
would i ever pay $30 to buy this cable? nope.
am i going to use this cable at my shows/gigs? nope.
do i regret signing up for this cable? nope.
the cable seems durable enough, but not very practical for my use. still thankful to Elixir for it though!

Give them that feedback when they ask for it. They could change to a more flexible insulation and drop the price if enough people comment about it. I'm still waiting for mine and will compare it to my Planet Waves cable, which I like just fine.
Holy crap. Just got it. This cable is as thick as speaker cable and is really really stiff. I never knew an instrument cable could weight so much. I no longer play bass, only guitar so test was with guitar.
Pros: Sounds brighter, some what more tubier.
Cleaner.
Cons: Hefty, thick, cable ends thick. Stiff.
Its a really nice cable, one which I would not want my band mates stepping on. If you use right angles, this is not the cable for you.

Mine arrived this morning. FYI, sent on December 15th.

Mine also arrived today 12/21. Mailed 12/15. Box is kind of large and long. Was delivered by USPS truck not by my carrier. But, no need to sign for it.
This baby is HUGE and HEAVY alright. Haven't had a chance to test yet. But, test would be biased somewhat as I have a non-Elixir cable from my effects to my amp.
Kudos to Elixir though for sending out such a high value product ($70) as a free sample.

First impressions... Sounds fantastic with my '59 P-Bass - a lot more open sounding on the mid thru treble freqs - and yet solid on the lowest fundumentals also. A sonic winner! It sure beats the snot out of my 'bass' version Monster cables. Not so much difference with my active basses.
Played through it a little tonight to some music on the urban gospel radio station here in town. This is such a perfect cable for this genre of music.
I got one after all! The mailman handed it to me about five minutes ago. Woot!
Question - did anyone get a 90 degree plug on one end, and if so would you be interested it a trade for mine w/straights on both ends? Not immediately, but at some point in the not-so-distant future...

As noted by others, it's super thick and heavy, more like the cable you'd use for monitor wedges, except it is kinda stiff. It seems to make the low end more exact and also the top seems smoother.
The bummer is that it is so heavy, I can't see myself running around stage with it. What I do think it's ideal for is to run from my pedal board to the amp. This sucker could take some punishment and not bat an eye.

Got my cable in CT last night - haven't had a chance to play through it yet. I did unpack it and, while it is somewhat stiff, I've seen stiffer ones. It seems durable, but that can only be determined by seeing how much abuse it takes before crapping out. I've never really been able to hear a tonal difference between inexpensive and expensive cables - it will be interesting to see if this one does sound better.
Mine is 2 straight plugs.......seems I read somewhere that was what they were sending.
