Hi!

Hey, it says "tribute to female band members," not "Cavalcade of Babes."

But wait! There's more!

I had the pleasure of backing up Deana Martin, daughter of Dean Martin, at a couple of fund raisers for cancer research.

I worked with Stephanie for a summer doing a show at Disneyland.

Here's another picture of Kellye when she was subbing for Kelly, just because.

Subbing in with the Smith Band I worked with Hilary, who was also subbing in.

This is Audry, who I get to sing with at church sometimes.

We've done a few shows with Carmel. She'll sub in for Amanda at times.

We've done a couple of shows with Morgan.

Royce will sub in for Amanda when necessary. Royce will be with us at Gilley's Las Vegas later this month.

That's about all I have in recent memory. If I think of any others, or work with any other talented ladies, I'll let you know.

I was always in bands with a female lead singer (and a few other female musicians along the way) but am currently in a 3 piece of just dads. That said... I am super excited, as we have a lady joining us at our gig next Friday night and will be singing most of the first set. She's more rooted in musical theater, but has a killer voice, so we're hoping that she'll like it enough to make it a more permanent thing! Super stoked either way.

No pics handy, but our lead singer in the YES tribute band I was in was female (the other four members were male). Back when we were going through the audition process for the lead singer position, we had assumed that it was very likely that the successful candidate would be female due to the higher pitch of Jon Anderson's voice.

Oh! That reminds me! I've got some pre-Carvin pictures with lovely talent in the band.

This is the lovely and talented Teresa James. She's got a very successful blues band these days. (Mid-80s Fender JBS in the picture.)

Also pre-Carvin, my country band in the 90s with the drummer's wife, Carrie Lynn, as the female lead.

I was using my Guild Pilot 5-string back then. Didn't get my Carvin LB-76 until 1995.

The ex and her husband were sitting in with our band. Sounds like a soap opera on paper, but there is no drama. All good people.

My current band is the first with a woman in it. It is a little different, but it could be more just her individual personality than working with women in general. I have to be a little careful with the criticism. Keep it positive and constructive.
No other issues. We haven't been out on the road though.

I have made great memories playing with females and it’s never been an issue unless it was a husband and wife/ boyfriend and girlfriend team who each thought they were BL. That has happened enough to make me never do it again. Flukes, maybe. But being in a band with them is a line I’ve drawn.

I've heard of this happening, but in my band, there is no question that the wife (trumpeter) is in charge, and the husband (drummer) is the sideman. She has been in charge of this band about 5x longer than I've been a member. She's not a tyrant or anything, but it's her vision and her labor of love. She also writes killer horn lines, IMHO.

I saw this vid on another thread and I gotta' say your singer must do yoga considering her bent-knee back-bend moves right before she starts singing. If anyone thinks that's easy - just try doing it yourself!

Apparently this is more than some people can handle. I can't figure that out, but that's ok. There's my picture up there, anyway.

I hope you can find something, finding good bands is tough nowadays!

Best of luck - there's lots of bands out there so it'll only be a matter of time before you'll connect with one. There's nothing that improves your playing more than playing with other musicians in a band. Post some pic when that happens.
