Funky NATO names for Soviet aircraft

Speaking of wacky Soviet aircraft..... How about this guy? NATO codename "Bull". Short for "Bull-Ess"? Sorry for the large file.

I have 3 dozen+ unfinished(some untouched, some half-done)kits- mostly WW-II AC, some armor, a couple of motorcycles. I may go have the local hobby store order me a Revell 1/48 F4U-7.

I started getting back into building model kits last year, but I never seem to have the time to finish them. I have (all 1:72) Hawker Tempest V, F4U-1A Corsair, P-47D Thunderbolt (Bubbletop), and a Spitfire Mk XIV, all in various stages of assembly. Now that I’m bandless I think I might get on these.

Ah yes, the TU-4...aka the Russian Ripoff...

...they took three "interned" B-29 bombers that emergency landed on Russian territory after raids on Japan or Japanese-controlled Manchuria, then copied them rivet for rivet and made it their front line heavy bomber for almost 10 years.

Infuriated the US in the process...and proved to be a very prevalent Soviet design strategy - let the US figure out HOW to do something, then copy it. ;)

A few examples:

AN-12 (an obvious C-130 derivative)

TU-154 (...or is it a B727? )

Of course, eventually, the Russians/Soviets got their act together and started doing their own work - some of it exceptional!

Gotcha. Yeah, that is one of my favorites as well- the prop on that sleek airframe brings to mind a whammy bar on a fretless for some reason...
:D

I want one of these just to fire up when the college kids next door get bothersome...

...but then again, that would blow windows for about a 1/4 mile radius...and cause miscarriages and brain damage...

EDIT: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! MODEL KIT MODEL KIT MODEL MIT MUST HAVE!!!!!
