Funny Town Names

I used to live in Belchertown, right on Rural Route 9!

Ah, the memories....

Hope you are talking about Belchertown, MA... I used to take Route 9 through NoHo and Hadley to Amherst 15 years ago.

There is a remote town in the north of Western Australia called "Damboring".

There's another called "Wyalcatchem" and yes, it's pronounced "Why I'll Catch Em".

I haven't lived in either so no bonue points for me

There used to a town in Kentucky called Rabbit Hash, but it was so small that the whole town was sold to one person.

I live pretty close to Hooker, PA. It's not very big, but Hooker Road, which goes right through it, goes for many miles both ways.

I can verify that Lick Skillet, Alabama exists. I live about 15 miles from there. The main road there is called Butter and Egg RD.

I love how they carried the theme all the way to the naming of the streets.

I once met a guy from Smackover, AR, back in high school.

I asked him what they did for fun, there. He said they went muddin'. I asked him what he drove. He said, "Aw, we don't use trucks. We jump in mud holes!"

I love the backstory on Andice and Weslaco. I need to find a big chunk of unicorporated land to survey, develop and name.

My late mother was born in Mars, PA!

...anytime my friends were over and she was being goofy (which was often, mom had quite the sense of humor), I'd just tell 'em, "...well, she IS from Mars..."

After which she would agree with me...

Big Bone Lick.
