Funny Town Names

Tell me there is a Toke Point, British Columbia right across the border from TP, Wash and I'll completely fall over laughing.

It's on the coast at the mouth of the Columbia River across from Oregon. I made a good 20 mile detour to take a picture of myself next to a road sign.

Great thread...I'm learning alot.

There's a town in CT called Mianus. It was also the subject of a very funny episode of Jackass.

PA has some of the weirdest. Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand were already mentioned, but there's also a town called Blue Ball, PA.:D

tr68gt so you've been to Mary's bar? Did you go to Monkeytown as well?
Then there's Pinhook over by the Scioto River.
Or maybe Muletown down in Scioto county.

I'm just guessing that was about 25 years ago, so I didn't remember the name of the bar, but the happenings stuck with me. I grew up around the Ross/Highland county line in a little town (if you can call it that) called Rainsboro. I don't recall ever going to any of the places you're talking about.

Two Egg, FL (...no yolk)
Yeehaw Junction, FL (seriously...right on the FL Turnpike, south of Orlando)
La Place, LA (yeah, it translates to...you guessed it: The Place!)
Grosse Tete, LA (...er...BIGGUNS!!!)
Baton Rouge, LA (Red Stick??? :D )

I figured Gard might get Two Egg as many times as he's crossed I-10 in that stretch.

Kissimmee FL - Sorta home of Disney
Christmas FL - Not the summer home of Santa
Corpus Christi TX - The body of Christ
Wewahitchka FL - "Wewaw" to the locals
Between GA - In between two other small burgs
Midway GA - halfway between to more small burgs
Lick Skillet AL - Says it all.

Mianus.

Now that is one that probably doesn't appear on the standard funny town name lists. Without checking my astrology charts, I'm guessing that the town's ruling planet is Uranus.

I used to go over the Mianus River on I-95 when I lived in NY and went to visit my parents back in Mass. If I remember correctly, it is actually pronouced in the manner that would give maximum humorous effect.

Yup, very humorous.

Lol, on Jackass Johnny Knoxville vists a sewage treatment plant in Mianus and interviews a worker there. "So, is there a lot of poo in Mianus?" was the opening question if I remember correctly. :p

and you also have somewhere named gaylord

My kids think that the name Gaylord is pretty funny. I grew up in MI so I've never given it a second thought...afterall, it's pronounced "Gay lerd"...

There is also a Climax, MI (geographically between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek).

Beaver, PA. The funny thing about that is that when Westinghouse Electric was purchased by Eaton Corp, the telephone operators were specifically told not to answer the phone "Eaton, Beaver"!

Hancock, MI located close to Houghton, MI, home of Michigan Tech University which had a male/female ratio of 3.5 to 1 when I was there.
