ok, here are some new infos from the dev...
midi-out is not very likely to happen. as i expected the good tracking of the deep impact is a combination of pitch-tracking and the way the synth works in the pedal. so a midi-out would pretty much not be better than a roland pitch-to-midi or similar. pitch-tracking alone is very different from pitch-to-midi. midi needs a note-on message which is basically a pitch and a defined note start followed by a note-off, again a pitch and a defined note stop. this is information that is not so easily captured from a string instrument. (when "exactly" does a note start/stop, what is a new note?) it's not just keys pressed down
we also discussed about cases/housings for the new deep impact. he tends to use an expensive case (like the original deep impact, i.e. a custom case) i thought a hammond type of case would do it. (the one used by ehx, all the boutique builders etc.) what do you all think about that?
and what about the usb-port? midi-in covers the editing possibilities and usb-in will increase cost of the build. otoh it is more convenient for some people...he is thinking about leaving that out.
