Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

yeah, globally is "normal". however i like it on a per patch basis. you can still set your desired channel on all presets (will take some time i know)

What's the advantage of per patch? I can't think of any context where that would be useful.

Anyone else relieve a bill today from TNT for customs fees?

This is not directed only at you, but I think it needs to be said.

I know the thread is really long, but people really need to read at least the last page or two before posting questions.

The answer to your question is yes, it was discussed in several posts on the past page or two.

+1 before the FI
How are you guys using your compressors before or after the Future Impact? I'm using it before to reduce peaks in my playing to prevent tracking issues. But sometimes some sounds can get real loud, and that makes want to switch my compressor...
I would use it before. if a sound gets too loud (which?) you may want to edit it a little so that the filter is less resonant for example...generally you can very easily make sounds that stay in a given loudness range

So, I have tried it both ways. It seems to track better after a comp. That said I think one of the charms of this pedal is the "touch sensitivity" It is wonderfully responsive to dynamics. I have a blend on my Cali, but it still isn't the same as having no comp... I am going before the comp, I just like it better. The pedal feels a little more like a part of my bass, an extension of the instrument. Just my two cents, probably has a lot to do with how I play and how much I enjoy some of the glitches. I am getting better and making it glitch how I want it to, it's just so musical. I really dig this pedal.

Side note. I have had killer success feeding the FI into an OD pedal. I'm using a BBBOD. It's just sick!!!

different instruments (keys, bass pedal, playing different instruments) but I agree that in most cases a global setting would be better. I will suggest this to andras. have you tried my suggestion? does it go back to Omni when you stay in a patch?

I didn't have a chance to do it last night---will try today.

Does the MIDI Out on the Future Impact behave as a MIDI Thru? I'm just getting started with mine and I did not have my interface or computer handy so I was in default Omni mode. But it seemed like the Future Impact didn't pass MIDI out to devices down stream.

Was this due to being in Omni mode or is this the expected behavior even when properly channelized?

I'm not sure but I know I was unable to send program change messages from the FI. I was only able to receive them.

@lokki - that was it, I think. A real hassle to go through all the patches to change the MIDI channel, I would strong encourage that global MIDI channel becomes a feature in the future (I'm not clear if that's one of the two updates Andras is referring to).

My two biggest firmware requests are:

(1) MIDI CC for effect on/off
(2) Global MIDI channel

midi cc on off will be there for sure. global midi channel is not yet clear :)
andras was referring to:

1) midi thru
2) program change thru but also a program change gets generated when you select a program with the foot switch of the f.i.

Okay.

Would there be a way to disable the generated PCs? I can think of cases would you wouldn't necessarily want that. Or I guess the FI won't be doing MIDI Merge, so if it's set to Thru this won't be an issue.

Received my $40 bill from TNT today. $30 for handling and "residence fee".... yeah that isn't getting paid.
just be aware, if TNT handle this like UPS/Fedex too, that unpaid brokerage fees owed by recipient become the responsibility of the shipper. I stopped selling basses internationally after getting stiffed by too many people throwing the brokerage fee bills in trash and having to pay it for them.

I got my bill today also, despite having still not yet received the actual pedal, it seems to have gone missing somewhere between Hungary and NYC. :banghead:

There are options for sellers to make sure that only customs fees are charged COD and that brokerage and prepay fees are always handled at shipping time and included as part of shipping costs.

I had done a bit of research regarding import taxes in the US before shipping stuff through the classifieds and if my memory serves me well packages worth 200$ or more get taxed upon import in your country.

I find it a bit surreal that people living in the US buying from abroad don't know that (and that a couple expected me to!) but... I guess from now on you will ;)

In the meantime I did receive my pedal and it's lots of fun. Obviously the first thing I did was hook it up to my Line6 Helix to play synth with my feet. Whith a bass in hands I can see how the tracking could be an issue in some instances - I have to pay closer attention than with combinations of analog pedals I used for synthy sounds.
However it does track all the way down to the low B which is quite spectacular. And the convenience of having everyting in one stombox with presets (as opposed to about 4 pedals in a programmable loop switcher...) is very valuable. Time will tell which solution suits me best in the long run.

The issue is not duties. The issue is private brokerage fees that can be absolutely eliminated every single time something gets shipped across the border. Even TNT will let you use a private broker or do pre-brokerage and let you simply include it in the price of shipping at a much lower cost than 30$ (in this case).

I should note my problem isn't with the import taxes, that part is fine and I'll gladly pay it. It is the mysterious charges TNT tacked on to the tax with no real explanation.
