Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

I should note my problem isn't with the import taxes, that part is fine and I'll gladly pay it. It is the mysterious charges TNT tacked on to the tax with no real explanation.

There are two fees there:

15$ handling is just their brokerage fee to run it through customs. This is definitely overpriced, but UPS and FEDEX would charge that as well, again, overpriced. The second 15$ is the minimum charge that TNT charges in the US for prepaying the duty fees. They charge you 15$ to pay the duties on your behalf, then charge you the actual duties.

Yeah that seems ridiculous.

Okay.

Would there be a way to disable the generated PCs? I can think of cases would you wouldn't necessarily want that. Or I guess the FI won't be doing MIDI Merge, so if it's set to Thru this won't be an issue.
no, as of now it would be thru/merge. so case 1 and 2 are one mode. in what cases would you not want that? i mean if you change program with midi, you don't have to use the footswitch, so there will not be anything generated additionally. otoh if it sends pc messages on footswitch presses, you can hook up a cheap keyboard with a screen and get patchnames :-)

editor update:

- copy/paste/reset functionality for the vco's. that means you can copy from one vco to another, or reset all values in a vco section to zero. this even works across presets, the "clipboard" holds the contents...
-fixed a bug that sometimes prevented triangle wave of vco1 to have the right value (not the one displayed)
-reset all function

download at f.i. google drive: fieditor 1.4

Okay, let me see if I understand this. Basically, if it gets a PC message, it will respond to that but not generate anything? If you change via the footswitches, it will generate PC messages?

nope.

think of it this way:

everything except pc messages gets repeated at the output. (midi thru without pc messages)

with pc messages the following happens:

every time a program is changed on the f.i. a pc message is created. it does not matter where this program change came from, midi in or footswitch...

It would be nice to have the Data digit go from 0 to 9 so we have one extra step of parameter editing... also I would love to see a form of Direct mode that doesn't change of bank automatically. Is there a way that the user can change the way the parameters work? for example having a completely wet patch would leave the Balance parameter useless and I could use it for something else.

I was just reading some really interesting stuff about TNT. Seems to me like a scam type service from what I've read. I'm not quite sure why they were used...but there's nothing I can do about that. I find it very interesting they can charge you after you've already received an item. Seems kind of backwards. Anyway, I got a bill from them today. On Tuesday I will be calling them and asking them to explain in great detail why I need to pay them anything as I already paid for the item and shipping. I have never, ever paid any fees on a single pedal before or any item and I've had things come from Hungary before, so I have NO clue why I need to pay it.

At the end of the day, I will pay it regardless and despite my bitching, but I want them to inform me why. I can't read the explanation since it's written in a foreign language.

Still trying to wrap my mind around what PC message is created and why. Would it be a bad idea to put other pedals downstream (in the MIDI chain) that were on different channels that I wanted to respond to completely different PC commands?

Also, I forgot my third, more substantial feature request: LFO sync-able to MIDI clock with beat divisions and subdivisions. :)

Well I finally opened the box.

Can I say the decal is even more underwhelming than imagined? Brand new out of the box?

***?

@Andras Szalay, @Gabor_Gerenyi, @lokki

What can be done about my unit? I don't think this is acceptable for a $440 unit new out of the box.
I can't do anything about it, but I will forward to andras if he does not get in touch with you. could it be, that the package has been opened for suspection by customs? it looks like something you cannot overlook when signing and packaging a unit...

lfo sync is something i asked for even before the first firmware was ready :-) i would LOVE this was well.

i don't know about midi channel of outgoing messages, but that is a good question. i think it should just use whatever is set in the pedal for outgoing messages as well.

Source audio uses UPS and not only do they do similar taxes and desinformation but their service is a lot careless on delivery.
Every single pedal I imported from US I have had to pay all those fees over fees over fees, sometimes they are only charged months after the delivery was made.
So what I mean is that the problem seems to be on the delivery companies in general and maybe the only way to minimize this is to send stuff by mail service which in turn is much less safer.

Right now I use mine at the end of a "chain," I have four MIDI signals split from a MIDI Solutions Quadra Thru. But this behavior guarantees I would have to keep it there instead of being able to put it elsewhere in the chain.

Can the decal be removed? I might get mine acid etched if it can..... I know someone around here does that super well, just can't remember who....

How do you make a $440 pedal a $550 pedal?

The package was sealed. And no, I don't think customs pealed my sticker off. If I am being totally honest, the whole unit feels very very flimsy. Thanks for your help lokki.
