Thanks. It's still a work in progress. Sadly it doesn't really translate onto bass well (though I haven't tried it with really high compression). This was triggered via my keyboard. Still pretty pleased with it though.

I haven’t given up all hope, I might just need to tailor is a bit more to the curve of a bass volume envelope. Those are much more unpredictable than a standard 0-127. MIDI velocity scale. The other hurdle is pitch tracking; the keyboard takes this totally out of the equation. It works better on bass when the patch is playing the lower notes. (I’m curious how this will work on my MIDI bass when I finally get it.) It’s a similar story with the Clav patch I shared a while ago; it sounds great on keys, much less so on bass.

I need some advice. I found a Deep Impact with an intermittent wonky LCD screen, (but it doesn’t affect the audio!) for $500. Or I can get a new Future Impact v3 for under $400. I just don’t know if I’ll be happy without the LCD “mojo”. If the DI was $800 there would be no question, I’d scoop that up on a minute, but at just $500 I’m not convinced it would be enough more better.

Buy the Future Impact - it does the DI sounds (100% indistinguishably as that was an initial design goal) and does tons more at a fraction of the cost. Absolutely bonkers to pay for a DI now as they are totally redundant.

Exactly. I thought my witty sarcasm was more obvious than it appears to be. This is yet another reality, asking big money for a DI, that continues to stupify my common sensibilities.

I did wonder when you said it would've been worth it for more money and should've clocked the tongue-in-cheek nature of it; people often mistype and aren't always native English speakers so I do give the benefit of the doubt. I've seen a few DIs for silly money and it baffles me. I guess the people who paid big for them years ago want to recoup. Hell, the FI is cheaper new now than what I bought my used one for, but I'm not bitter in the slightest; it's been totally worth it for me as it ultimately got me into helping out with the v3 development.

You can do exactly the same with the FI, go as deep or shallow as you like. Pedal controls are identical.

Yes I like that aspect of the FI, I just sometimes get lost in the sauce with all the potential sounds and options

I’ve been wanting one of these for a long long time. How are you all hooking it up to your computer to edit patches? I’m surprised there isn’t a USB port.
