There’s a place for both these great pedals. They do plenty of stuff differently from each other to warrant using both. At some point I might experiment running the FI in the C4’s loop for some monster sounds.

man my one computer is having problems opening the new editor. did the update no problem download the ediotr and i get this Screen Shot 2021-06-17 at 7.25.45 PM.png

its weird bc usually I just go into security and open it up, but for this instance thats not available. any ideas?

That doesn’t look like the site it would’ve come from. Try downloading it again.

Also, the new editor installs in a different way from before. Read the relevant section in the manual about installing the editor.

@Charlie Tuna said he got an error message when double-clicking to launch the installer. Try right-clicking instead.

Do you mind posting what the issue with the computer was? In your screenshot all you have to do is click the “Open” button instead of cancel.

On Mac, as Q posted above, I had to “right-click” and Open both the .dmg file and the actual FIeditor application file the first time I opened them.

The update is great. So much simpler!

With my (very new) MacBook when I clicked “open” it wouldn’t allow it. You have to go to System Preferences>Security and it should have a prompt at the bottom for the last attempted file to be opened with an option that says “open anyway”. Or something along those lines.

I have my Morningstar MC8 set as both the output device and the FI input device in the editor.

I turned on cross MIDI Thru in the MC8 (so signals on the 5-pin connection get sent to the USB and vice versa).

I then hooked up the 5-pin MIDI out from the MC8 into the FI’s MIDI in.

I connected the FI’s MIDI out to my Source Audio Hub’s MIDI in.

I set the Hub to MIDI Thru.

I connected the Hub’s MIDI out to the MC8’s MIDI in.

I was able to load and write patches to the FI and read patches from the FI.

I’m hoping I can keep this as a permanent setup.

Thanks for this, Q! I got it working after an accidental reset. I had to turn on MIDI Thru on the FI Global Menu after the reset.
  • MIDI THRU (“trU”)

    Value: 0, 1 (Default on reset is 0.)
    If set to 0 then MIDI information received via MIDI IN will not be passed to MIDI OUT.

    If set to 1 then all information received via MIDI IN will be passed to MIDI OUT (with the exception of CC6 (Data Edit), NRPN controllers and SysEx data).

Oops, yes, I accidentally forgot to include that in the list of steps I think. Works like a charm. I occasionally get moments where reading from the FI goes awry but I think that is the Hub having a wobbly.

Wow, @Quatschmacher @Andras Szalay, seriously great work on the v3.60 release and the new drag -and-drop Manager. Even a technophobe like me (and I usually struggle with Midi) managed to follow the manual and load up the new version, work my way round the new Manager and start experimenting with new patches.

It's a game-changer.

I also love the 10 factory patches from the 3.5 firmware, (so you can tell I was somewhat behind the cuve on this, but thank goodness I caught up eventually).
