Did the Tab/Comp switch happen to be changed? Try that first

I had that checked from the beginning, it's on comp. I will double check again, but it's so deep in there I don't know how it could have been bumped.

My other suggestions right now are reboot, try a different port, and/or don’t run through a hub.

Still no luck.

On my older laptop with a Windows partition, the Roland will at least light up, but there are no MIDI input/output options on the web updater and it also won't connect through the FI Editor app. It says no FI is present.

On my newer Mac the Roland isn't lighting up. It did briefly, but now it's not.

I use WIDI devices but those work best with my iPad and the web updater says it doesn't work on the version of Chrome on my iPad.

Have you enabled MIDI in the Chrome settings?

If the UM-One is being detected by the FI editor and is visible in the MIDI I/O options, check you’ve got the ports the right way around. So many people get this wrong. (On the UM-one, the cable tells you exactly which ports to plug in (it says “connect to MIDI in”, so this goes into the FI’s MIDI IN).)

If updating firmware, remember to put the FI into update mode by holding down the two buttons when powering on.

Solution for Um-One not working with Mac shown at the *** below

I just tried mine on an MBP and had the issue where the light didn't come on.

I checked the toggle (Comp/Tab) and it was set properly (set to Comp).
I checked direct connection to all the USB-C ports using the Apple dongle.
I checked System Information App (in Utilities) and the Um-One did show up under one of the USB ports. Note: you have to restart the System Information App if you unplug or plug while the App is on.

***I opened Audio MIDI Setup App (in Utilities), went to the Menu->Window->Show MIDI Studio and when that window opened I clicked on the Um-Ones there and the light turned on the hardware (it may turn on as soon as you open MIDI Studio as well). I clicked on the little Keyboard in the toolbar to Test the MIDI connection and then the down arrow on the top left Um-One and the "In" light on the Um-One hardware flashed indicating MIDI being received by the Um-One. I confirmed it works through my USB Hub as well.***

I needed to mess with MIDI Studio to do some things with my WIDIs, although it didn't seem to do the job to get me connected to the FI.

I don't remember seeing my UM-ONE in this list in MIDI Studio, but I will try this at some point. Thanks!

I just got my FI pedal a couple of days ago and only had time to go through the presets, but I'm searching for this sound if anyone can point me in the right direction. I'm a synth noob, so I have a lot of learning to do. Just looking for a quick fix. Scratch scratch.

Thanks guys! It sounds like it might be 21. I wasn't sure where the DI sounds were, I've heard 1-9 and also 21-29, thanks for clearing that up for me. Looking forward to a deep dive into this pedal over the winter.

They were at 1-9 until v3.0, whereupon they got moved to 21-29.

Got to say that I've found being able to hook up the FI to a midi keyboard while having the editor open is a fantastic option for tweaking patches and getting the VCO/VCF settings dialed in. The midi options for gate/trigger and keyboard priority in the FI editor are very useful too - although they don't translate when not using midi. Apparently, my midi bass is actually going to happen before the end of the year so I'll be able to replace my poor keyboarding skills with my slightly less poor bass playing and take full advantage of the midi capabilities of the FI. Very excited!

I cancelled my Industrial Radio order after 3 years and 7 months and managed to eventually get a refund (but got ejected from the IR Facebook group as a result.) If you’re getting yours from IR, take any deadline with a massive pinch of salt; I lost count of the amount of times I was told mine would “be ready in four weeks”.

It has been delayed by almost a year due to component shortages but they say the electronics have now been built and are supposed to start the bass build in September.
