I needed a codpiece too so I joined the club. Seriously though, Darren was great to deal with. I was not completely happy with my initial purchase and he made sure I was 100% happy. Nothing but good things to say about him. Switch out was a breeze as others have said. I know the 2 tone may not be everyone’s thing but I’m diggin it.

Just ordered an FI. Looking forward to digging into it. Any beginner tips? I have extensive experience with the Akai unit it’s based on, so I’m not asking about the patches as much as this pedal’s editor and potential peripherals.
I assume I’m going to need a USB to MIDI cable asap? I’m on a windows laptop.
What about external expression pedals? Is anyone running those? Any chance of editing patches with an IPad?

There’s no iPad editor. You could construct one in something like TouchOSC or MIDI Designer 2 as the control data were made public by Andras. Perhaps I’ll incorporate them into the next revision of the user manual. You should read the manual to learn how to get the best from the editor. It also lists which USB interfaces work properly and info on hooking up MIDI controllers.
I’d recommend the Morningstar and Mortrix controllers. Panda makes a little box (midiBeam 4Control) which serves as both an interface and allows you to hook up two control devices, either of which can be an expression pedal or a two-button switch. You can then map these to useful controls. It’s way more limited than the Morningstar and Mortrix controllers but it might be enough for you.

I write this post because I have a question to you, the users of the FI. As you may remember, software development of the FI was stopped because the memory is full, there is no place for any additional code. However, some place could be made free by skipping functions that are not needed. Therefore I ask you, are any of you using the Legacy Mode of Program Change? This is the way how program change on the original Deep Impact works. I included that into the software just because of compatibility reasons, I neve use it and I have not heard about anybody treating it important. What do you think, would anybody miss it from a next software?

It’s the one where you use the program button to cue a patch within a single bank of 10 then use the on/off button to engage it. Contrast this with the direct mode where pressing the program button increments through all 99 patches.
Personally I never use legacy mode and would happily see it removed to make space for more useful upgrades/fixes.

I didn't even know it existed. But at this point, I wouldn't use it.
I mainly use legacy mode. It's the fastest way to go from eg: 12 to 87, or maybe I'm too used to it
I don’t use legacy mode either. All my switching is done via midi. Sounds like a great idea Andras.
I use a midi controller to do program changes on the FI. Never touched legacy mode.

How does it work when it isn’t in legacy mode? I had a deep impact, so I must have changed the FI to function the same a long time ago. Now I only use midi to control it.
