Thanks for the explanation. I figured there had to be a good reason. That said, I think Pitch Follow (on/off) is one that could be useful for those using either midi or audio input. Since I got the midi controller bass I use midi exclusively on synths and forget that audio is the input for the vast majority of users of the FI.

By the way, your request is reasonable, and the answer why we do not have CCs assigned to this function is not only that memory is limited, but also that CCs are limited. We try to retain as much CCs as possible for Flexis, because using a CC for Flexi which has another default function in the FI is much more complicated in software.

This is great news! You said that currently, 2/4 application slots are taken; besides the synth application what is filling the other slot?

Pitch to midi is exciting, triggering VSTs will be fun!

The pitch-tracked VA synth is slot A, the MIDI-triggered VA synth is slot B. Having them separate like this allows for some differences to be made between them, eg, pitch-to-MIDI will go in A and there's potential for my paraphony idea to go in B (which only makes sense in MIDI-triggered mode).

I never took the time to learn the FI editor for V1/3, relying on community presets, which was awesome BTW. V4 has come at a time when I am able and eager to tackle making my own sounds. I began the road to adventure yesterday with 3-4 hours of a cycle of head scratching/revelation. At each point of confusion, I heard @Quatschmacher voice in my head, "that's in the manual I worked so hard on".
This is just to say that the manual seems pretty awesome, and I will be relying on it heavily in the coming weeks.

I'm really happy to hear that. The V4 manual is the best version too as I rearranged and rewrote some stuff in there.

For example, using only a square wave and setting the saw delay to a high value and the decay to its maximum (63) creates a cool effect as the Saw decays from its maximum amplitude to zero. Even cooler with a second square wave an octave higher. I continue to be amazed at the versatility of this wee beast! Thanks to the manual for explaining how these settings work I was able to understand what was happening.

Yeah, it's a pretty nifty feature. The explanation in the original manual was pretty scant so I had to just play around with this loads until I finally figured out exactly how it works. In the original v3 manual, I still didn't feel like I fully captured what it does so I revised it in a later version. I actually wanted to add a diagram for this as it's quite complex as the the levels are relative to the volume of saw wave but there wasn't enough space on the page to add it without messing up the formatting through the rest of the document.

Some of the presets I shared use this feature; I think some of the ones that tried to replicate FM-type sounds (FI doesn't do FM (yet)).
