Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Nice to see some of these VIPs arriving! I still haven't received any shipping notice, but hopefully, mine will be on the way soon, as well! My Deep Impact has been riding my pedalboard for so long... I'd love to tuck it away someplace nice and safe and replacing it with a smaller footprint is also attractive.

I’ve shared patches in this vein, available through the editor. Also, read the envelope filter tutorial in the manual.
Yep went though the manual on that and got a filter type sound but It’s quite weak. I’m sure it’s user error and I need to understand how to use and stack Felix controllers, which I haven’t been able to figure out from descriptions in the manual.

Received my VIP just in time for a double booked gig weekend. Happy to report that my board has a lot more room on it and the VIP worked flawlessly.

I don't remember where, but I read a concern that the footswitch was worryingly close to the bank knob and that you might accidentally switch banks when trying to activate the pedal. I did not have this problem, though I was thinking about it so that may have affected my stomp technique.

Have you followed through the example in the Flexi Controller section of the manual. That should give you a good idea of how they work in practice.

If by “stacking” you mean assigning different sources to the same destination, this is not possible due to the way the slider interface works - destination sliders can only accommodate a single source. However, you can apply a secondary controller to the path in the flexi window, eg you can have envelope follower affect the depth to which the filter envelope affects its assigned destination.

I have done this several times and a useful a understanding of Flexi functions still eludes my ability to grok, fwiw there are lots of things that my limited mind finds enigmatic bordering on mysterious or magic in this world and beyond.

Add this to the list of videos I would love to see.

Is there something in particular that’s not making sense? I do like to make improvements to the manual text if they are needed if things aren’t clear.

I’d love to do some videos but life is giving me a real hiding at the moment and things don’t look set to change anytime soon.

Hey guys, having trouble getting the FI Editor to detect my FI v4 VIP. Getting "FI not present or a communication error has occurred"

I have my signal path going like this: FI MIDI OUT > Volt 2 Interface MIDI IN > Volt 2 USB C to PC.

The FI is on 4.11 and my Volt 2 firmware is up to date (confirmed in the UA Connect software). I have also ensured my MIDI Preferences for Input and Output device are both set to Volt 2.

Any ideas?

I think there was another user who had similar problems using that exact interface. I suspect there’s a setting in the interface that is causing an issue.

You didn’t mention having anything connected to the FI’s MIDI in port. Obviously that needs to be connected to the interface’s MIDI OUT port too.

I trust you’re running the v4 editor too.

Hey Quatsch, yep running FiEditor4. I am running a single MIDI cable from the FI4 out to the MIDI in on the Volt 2. I thought the manual said you can run either way, as long as one end is the Out and the other is the In:

Or do you have to run both?

UPDATE: Im an idiot. You DO have to run both. I was reading the manual as either/or. Ok, Im all set. Sorry for the time waste!

I just got my VIP. I want you all to know the pictures we've seen online and the rendering that was used for the VIP announcement, don't really do it justice. This new enclosure is quite beautiful, the new knobs look stylish & classy and of course it just sounds amazing. Andras Szalay and his team has done an incredible job bringing this futuristic Swiss army knife effect into the hands of bass players around the world. Thank You Andras!
Thank you for your kind words! It is good to know that musicians appreciate the hell lot of work that we invest in this product!

Although nobody reported to have problem with that, we also thought about this. We are working on a software update, it will be released soon. Depending on your shoe and the angle of your foot it could happen that you accidentally press the wheel, while you want to press only the ON/OFF footswitch. But the switch is significantly higher, this will be pressed first anyway. So, the software trick is that when you press down the switch, the wheel will be disabled while the switch is pressed. So, guaranteed that no malfunction can happen.

That’s a cool idea.

From what people were writing, it wasn’t clear whether their concern was that they’d accidentally press the edit dial (causing an inadvertent patch change), or that they’d damage the edit dial. The software update is a good solution for the former eventuality; I suggested using a foot switch topper for the latter, such as those from Barefoot buttons. Maybe you could commission some Panda/FI branded footswitch toppers for users to purchase…

Earlier in the thread they said that wasn't an option to buy just the small case.. But I had my V3 rehoused by Zach at Rouge Rehousing. he's a solid guy and it was a good experience.. he can do custom colors too. I don't know if they're doing the laser engraving anymore. Check it out

Can the small case be bought separately ???
3D-printing IS an option bet then I have to make the CAD drawing of it.
No, because we do not have time and resources to do rehousing ourselves, and do not support "do it yourself" because of the warranty implications.

That's clever. Like I said, I had no problems with it, but a little backup assurance is always welcome.

Can someone confirm or test this out for me please? Firmware 4:11 new vip.

The file menu in the manager find the convert heading that says Convert All Programs from prg/pr3 to pr4:.

The manual says:

Convert All Programs from prg/pr3 to pr4: Converts a whole folder of older-format
program files to the current format. The new files will appear in the same folder.

I just tried this with a folder of v3 program/patches that I was editing or working on for new FL. the newly created v4 programs were all zeroed out after the process. The V3 programs in the folder were unaffected luckily.

Thanks in advance
