Can someone confirm or test this out for me please? Firmware 4:11 new vip.

The file menu in the manager find the convert heading that says Convert All Programs from prg/pr3 to pr4:.

The manual says:

Convert All Programs from prg/pr3 to pr4: Converts a whole folder of older-format
program files to the current format. The new files will appear in the same folder.

I just tried this with a folder of v3 program/patches that I was editing or working on for new FL. the newly created v4 programs were all zeroed out after the process. The V3 programs in the folder were unaffected luckily.

What exactly do you mean by “zeroed out”? I’m not really clear on what you’re describing?

Also, you don’t really need to do batch conversion - you can just load in v3 patches via the manager and they’ll be converted automatically anyway at the point they get written to the pedal.

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear by saying 'zeroed out'. I meant that after processing all the parameters in the editor were all the way down.
Thus the program made no sound. I know that you don't really have to batch process the files. I found that out as I was working on on my old patches however it just seems like since it is a cool feature and if this is a bug maybe it should be looked at. I'm just going through the manual step by step to reacquaint myself with the editor and the manager. Thanks

That's clever. Like I said, I had no problems with it, but a little backup assurance is always welcome.

Spoke too soon. Gig at one of the hotspots downtown this weekend and I accidentally hit the bank simultaneously when I stomped the pedal. The new fix would be perfect for this.

I’ve just tested this and it is indeed a bug. It has been reported and will be fixed at some point. For now users should simply load the patches in the normal way. You could convert 99 at a time by loading them into the manager and saving the bank to the computer.

I was on a team that beta tested a mobile DAW app for both iOS & Android (plus a free version for Windows). And I know how hard it is to catch everything before a release. Luckily this bug is of little consequence and has a easy work around.

It’s one of the features I’ve probably never needed to use so testing time was spent on more critical stuff like the new MIDI, and even then a MIDI thru bug slipped through (which has also now been corrected).

Software version 4.12 is ready.

It has one important bugfix:
When MIDI THRU is ON, then not all Program Change messages passed through as they supposed to. This is fixed.

Furthermore, it has another important improvement for the FI V4 VIP:
If you press the ON/OFF foot switch and you accidentally hit also the BANK wheel with your foot, then the action of the BANK wheel will be suppressed. This function has no importance for the normal FI V4, but it does not hurt either.

I attach the software update file, and the version history file. We will of course post these to our web pages too.
ATTENTION: TalkBass does not allow to attach the *.fi4 software update file. I renamed it to *.png, after downloading you must rename it back to *.fi4.

But I am assuming (hoping) the page just hasn't been updated to say it works with the v4 as well?

I believe the VIP v4 has the same internals as the standard size v4.

I believe so as well, but the store page for the 4control only specifically says it works with the v3. I'm almost positive it's just an oversight but better to be sure before i order!

Just to clarify, the 4control allows one to add 2 button footswitch and expression pedal to the FI. It's a product pandamidi sells.

FI4 and V4 are identical inside. Just like v3, FI4 (all versions) will of course work with 4Control.

I'm reading through the manual now and I'm not entirely sure how I can map the expression pedal plugged into my 4connect to control a filter. It that something a 'flexi' can do?

It can.

Either set up one of the 4Control ports to send CC11 or CC74 globally which control the filter sweep. (See the 4Control manual on how to do that.) You can adjust the maximum range in the pedal’s Global Menu.

By default, one of the 4Control ports sends CC1, so as an alternative you can use a Flexi with CC1 selected as the source and map that to VCF FREQ slider in the FI editor.

I found another thing to watch out for when loading programs from the editor.

I've been putting together a database of 99 edited programs to upload to my V4.
I work on them in banks of ten (except the first bank of course) in ten numbered folders on my computer.
Today i put all 99 edited programs in a single folder and checked to make sure I didn't forget anything and uploaded them to the editor.
No problem.
But when I uploaded to FL I got a communication Error.
I figured out where the load process stopped and removed that program.
Tried again and another error message. This time it stop loading again at a different Program. And this time at one of my favorites which I've used live for a long time: Quatschmacher's QM Ain't Nobody.


anyway i went through loading my database and found a few more.
But I kept the problem programs in a separate folder so I could trouble shoot them later.

NOTE: For the programs I don't create myself i keep the original name and mark it with my initial if I edited it , this is incase I want to go back to the source I'll know if i messed with it or not.

Next I looked at the problem programs and noticed some were by gastric. I noticed these programs tend to have a - in the name somewhere. Looking further I realized all of the problem programs had and -. on a hunch I removed the - and they uploaded up just fine. OK fine, But wait, what about QM Ain't Nobody? There is no - in the name....
I removed the ' and it loaded fine. so watch out for this to save yourself a headache.

TLDR: programs with - or ' won't load from the editor to the FLV4.
