For any other DX7II owner: I downloaded some Yamaha MK2 factory sound patches (.syx files) and they are 100% compatible with both FI v.4.5 Editor and Dexed.
So it is confirmed .syx dump from my DX7 MK2 is corrupted.
Maybe I have to buy a decent MIDI to USB Interface unless someone has some other idea...

I think that’s a cheap-enough experiment. The Future Impact in past iterations was somewhat picky with MIDI USB interfaces as well, apparently because of the packet size the data was in- so it might make sense that a similar issue is happening with the Sysex dumps from the DX7. The Roland UM-One MK-2 is a decent little MIDI interface that can be found for fairly cheap
Just tested on mine, won’t pass on PC9 from hx stomp using midi thru in FM mode , but setting it to CC0 and PC9 seems to work
Which is a surprise as I was trying to do something else
Can confirm - can change modes, presets via midi and also midi thru pc works in both modes
I am an midiot so don’t ask me technical things, but it works

I'm completely new to this, but it's dated 2015/01/04, so over 10 years ago?
I'm guessing everything DX7 etc. is old, so there is no thing as new?
It's called Montage/ModX series synth's but I doubt the are compatible.
I think the newer ones have more operators but I have to fire up my ModX7 and check if it so.

But I still want to download the 64 sounds from my DX7II because several years ago I spent litterally weeks to check hundreds of .syx file downloaded from the net and I was able to select very good synth bass sound patches, many of them used back in the 80'ies on several famous songs.
Some of these sounds are already included on the FI v4.5 EDitor, but many others no.
I will try to buy a better MIDI to usb interface hoping it will works...

I just want to check in and say that before rehearsal, I updated my Future Compact, and it went very smoothly and I love the sounds! I still have tweak some of the settings to respond a bit better, but what a huge upgrade! I love that patch 2 is Pony, as one of my bands plays that song regularly and it’s perfect. I have a show on Friday where I’m going to surprise that band with some pan pipes!
I just had a chance to pug in the FI V4 VIP. Mine is new and was preloaded with the new 4.5v. First of all if these sounds are tweakable that’s perfect.
To say I’m overwhelmed is an understatement. All I’ve done so far is check every tone from 1-99. There was a lot of redundancy and probably 90% of those sounds won’t be useful for what I do.
Now on to the owners manual.

One complaint but it’s a small one. The screws on the bottom of the pedal need to be recessed. Most guys use Velcro to mount pedals to their pedalboards but the heads on the screws touch the pedalboard hindering the Velcro from attaching securely to the pedalboard. I see a minor modification in my future (impact).

Dual lock works fine that you don’t need to remove the feet - but small bits as the bottom is thin enough it starts bending …One complaint but it’s a small one. I’m going to countersink the plate and replace the screws.

Just got my new VIP Pedal and updated to 4.5. The autoswitch (being able to play through midi in bass mode) does not seem to work at all. It works in instrument mode synth, but when i switch to bS.A it does not receive midi anymore. Also i noticed that in the 4.5 editor midi is not received properly when the pedal is in bass mode. When i play legato and hold the second note there is no sound. Also pitch bend information not received. Hope I am just too stupid and missed something or I hope this will be fixed in the future. Being able to switch from bass to keyboard on the fly was super handy.
