G&L Club Part 2

Funny you should say this, I've been thinking about swapping out the LaBella flats on my L-2000 for a set of Chromes. When I first got the bass I swapped out the stock rounds for TI flats, which sounded warm but (unlike on my P-bass) had no punch. So I figured if I wanted punch, go with LaBella flats (which are on there now). So now I've got punch, but the tone lacks any brightness. So now I'm thinking if I want both punch and brightness I probably want D'Addario Chromes. (And if they don't work, I'm probably going back to rounds, maybe DR nickle lo-riders?)

I love the blueburst! How are you liking your tribute? I'll have to post pics of my new tribute tonight. Picked up NYCbass' Natural and Rosewood tribute from the classifieds. I've missed my old transparent red 3 bolt L2000 ever since I stupidly sold it years ago. The tribute is much lighter though, and still has that sound I remember.

New DR Strings Sunbeams + Both Pickups on Full + Series + Active/no treble boost + slightly rolled off treble knob + bass knob on full + Sansamp VT pedal with drive knob at 9'oclock = :bassist:

Don't get me started about making stupid G&L selling choices! Years ago I had the opportunity to trade a bass for a USA L2000 but decided against it because it was described as "in your face". With the right strings these things can have a wonderful thumpy tone!

I've owned one L2000 Tribute and two L2500 Tributes and sold each one because I was looking for the "right tone" and wanted more control over my tone, or something dumb like that. I'm really glad to have one back and I got this one in almost mint condition for $300!

I really like this bass. I didn't think I'd like the blueburst but it's pretty nice with the contrast between the maple neck and blueburst body. It weighs just a bit more than 8 lbs as well, which is good for my back. I think I'll eventually install an Audere Classic 4-Band preamp and individual series/parallel switches, but it's just fine for now. I won't be selling this one unless I'm going for a USA model or can trade for a natural/rosewood Tribby with good body figuring.

Hi everybody!

First I'm sorry for my bad english.

I'm in New-York for 4 days and I'm looking for an electric bass, more exactly a G&L American L2000. But I don't know how can I find it in this huge city! I've got a list who give some shops who sell G&L ( [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] ) but some of them don't have G&L in stock...

Can you help me to find a shop who sell this brand or maybe a newspaper for second hand musical intruments in New York?

Every other picture of me that night caught me moving around wildly, thus no good bass shot. And, I absolutely adore the giant headstock. I've gotten so used to it that I don't recognize modern G&L's at first, which is kinda sad.

Out of the nearly 50 I've owned, 3 have had pointy headstocks.
I only own one of those anymore.

Many of the Alleva admirers/owners grouse about the headstock. I think it looks a lot like a G&L, so it don't bother me none at all.
