G&L Club Part 2

Guitarist give me a G&L1000 at a gig. He had it in a chipboard case I looked in and asked could I play it. He said sure cause its mine now. WOW!
Okay it was so beat. Dog chewed bottom by plate. Stank of cigarettes.
Well after a rechrome complete strip and refinish it was amazing. I don't play it live often.
Jack made sharp noises. Looked inside looked rusted. My tech said nope that's the brass showing, plating is gone.
While in there he said old G&Ls are plagued with a grounding issue that sounds like a bad jack and my jack was shot. He added a ground.
Got it home. OMG.
Where it was thin and anemic it is fat and full like a Gibson or MM. Just huge almost active.
Now I'm playing it everyday!

yessir, the last L1000 I bought, the input jack was so oxidised it wouldn't asss a signal.
cleaned it up with some fine emery paper, problem solved.

Just got a brand new Tribby L2K a few days ago. Played a show on monday with it already.

He's considering a JB or JB2. While my allegiances are well known, one cannot go wrong with either, however, only the JB2 is available as a Tribute, and that particular bass just might be the best J-bass at the $500-600 (street) pricepoint going right now.
Yea it's silver metallic. The sparkle is subtle. I'll try to get another pic in now that I have put DR Black Beauties on. Looks good. Sounds great. Plays sweet. I think I'm in love.

I haven't posted here in a while but I want to make sure that I say how much I love my L-2000. I tend to rock it with the neck position pickup only, in series mode, no active electronics, and it is truly awesome. It's like having a P-Bass that's better looking and better put together than a P-bass. It has so much roar to it.
My SB-2000 arrives today. Can't wait to plug it in. It's the red SB-2 with the 2000 neck on it. I'll post pics later. Third time should be the charm to be in the club.
