Guitarist give me a G&L1000 at a gig. He had it in a chipboard case I looked in and asked could I play it. He said sure cause its mine now. WOW!
Okay it was so beat. Dog chewed bottom by plate. Stank of cigarettes.
Well after a rechrome complete strip and refinish it was amazing. I don't play it live often.
Jack made sharp noises. Looked inside looked rusted. My tech said nope that's the brass showing, plating is gone.
While in there he said old G&Ls are plagued with a grounding issue that sounds like a bad jack and my jack was shot. He added a ground.
Got it home. OMG.
Where it was thin and anemic it is fat and full like a Gibson or MM. Just huge almost active.
Now I'm playing it everyday!
