G&L Club Part 2

*Built in 2000
*Bound birdseye maple neck/board
*Sunburst front/black back
*Modded for SC/Series, otherwise stock.

Aside from the "tight" spacing (I prefer wide and flat), I love nearly everything about this bass! It makes most gigs, even if it's only played for one set.

I played a G&L at a (good) music store (that sets up their instruments that are on the shelf), and I never thought much of their guitars, played a few and they were just Strats and Teles. But the basses were more then just copies! They are totally awesome! The necks on them are very comfortable, and the B string was tight and bright. How cool! want a G&L.

Lucky guys, you are.

It has been a while since I checked in ....

The latest is a new to me L-2000, #8 neck, flamed maple top, alder body with binding. Excellent condition and sound.
This is my 2nd L-2000, still trying to figure out why I sold the the first one...

Pics below are the current family. USA SB-2, trans Butterscoth Blonde, GOT neck, modded V/T V/T ... a killer bass and my #1.
Also an MIK SB-2, the only one I have seen in this color. Modded V/T with a 3-way pickup switch.
A great backup bass and perfect for jams and parties where I don't care if it gets passed around.

Question and I'm not sure if this is going to come across correctly- but do I have to have the bass boost knob up in order to get any real sound out of this thing or is something not right? If I have treble and boost all the way down and volume all the way up I get just about nothing out of my amp. In order to get any sound I have to have the bass knob up a bit

thoughts or am I just an idiot

The bass and treble are cut-only, no boost. So yes if you turn both of them all the way down you're not going to get much out of it. Put them about half way and go from there.

Already got a number, just wanted to show my latest acquisition. Bought from the TB classifieds, finally got me a hog/ebony! I've always wondered what the fuss was about with this wood combo, now I know. Plays and sounds sweet! With flats it's a killin' Motown, Blues & Reggae machine. Large hex, Jun 22 1980/Sep 11 1980 body/neck dates.
