I say just keep it.You could be back some day soon,and since your number 6,it is a low original.Not to mention if I was to reasign the number to someone else,I am sure it would cause hard feelings somewhere along the line. Joe

I had to wait some months for her (and pay more) because I wanted she had a maple fretboard. I tried before one like mine, but with redwood fretboard and at a reduced price (she was the first G&L in my hands) and I must say, it was not easy send it back to the shop and wait for mine to arrive. Now, I am really happy I did it. She is all "pros" in my list, the only "con" I have found in her is that she's really heavy. But has an infinite sustain.
As soon as I have better pics of her I will post them here.

Joe, care to post up the number list? I asked for a number back in Part 3 and I didn't see anything. I since got a second G&L.

I REALLY wish they would offer the old-school control plate and coated hardware again. The newer L2Ks are just a bit plain looking to me, no matter the finish. Yours is killer.

G&L L5500 - Mod EMGs from 9v to 18v?
So I love my G&L L5500 with EMG pickups. I've read plenty of mixed reviews but the size, weight and string spacing work perfectly me. I find that the EMG pickups sound great direct into the house with the EQ flat or with just minor tweaking. Even better, running it through my MarkBass preamp first provides me with a nice, deep tone with plenty of character and a very tight thump that gets consistent kudos.
That said, I've read on other TB posts that upgrading from 9v to 18v can make a significant improvement to dynamics and character of the guitar.
The EMG site says...
"Q: Can I use multiple batteries? A: Yes. If you've got room for multiple batteries in your guitar, you can use two batteries wired in series to power your onboard circuitry at 18 volts. The output level will not appreciably increase, but you'll have increased headroom and crisper transients."
Here are my questions...
1. Is the 9-18v upgrade safe for the EMGs in G&L?
2. Does anyone have experience with this mod? Does it really make a noticeable difference?
3. Are there any other mods or upgrades that you would recommend for the L5500?
