G&L Club Part 6

Hey guys, I have a question for anyone who has played both the L2000 & the L2000 tribute.
I have the tribute and love it. The feel, the crazy tonal options, the look, everything. My question is; What am I missing out on by not having the U.S. model? I know the electronics are the same. And the quality of my trib is nice. Are
there noticable differances? Thanks.

i heard a rumor that the tributes could be too hot and that the frets aren't as pristine, the only trib i played was a used one at gc and it was in desperate need of a setup so i couldn't make an accurate observation, however my 83 L2k rules and i got it for 675 used from the gc, which is a bargain considering it's in pretty amazing condition for a 30 year old bass that's been gigged and played

I've owned 30+ G&L's of every model.
I've never had that issue.

Pickup height adjustment, and adjustments at the preamp and volume knob on the bass=no worries.
IMO.

Hey Chef!
Hows it going? So you've played/had both? What do you think? (About my question)I set mine up perfect for me and that tribby is so playable, I love it. Would a U.s. be an upgrade & why. I dont understand the "too hot" thing. Its got the same electronics... Right? I got mine as a naked body & neck, bought everything I could from GLguitars.com & pickups from ebay. So I built it. I coulda bought a used one for the same $ but I started with a brand new body & neck.
Im open to anyones opinions who are familiar with both models. Thanks.

I own a USA. I used to play a friends trib. The trib had a 1 & 5/8 neck. My USA has the "8" neck.

Other than the wood quality being better on my USA model, the trib was a very fine bass. I do love my k switch mod though. The sounds were very similar

Ya. You'd think. Not an easy task.
Was looking for others opinions. Maybe it's not that important if I'm happy with mine. I saw a beautiful USA for 700 bucks in my area. Dont wanna waste the guys time unless there are noteable differances.

I own both, and the most noticeable difference to me is the switch orientation. They don't "feel" identical in the hand but they are very similar. One of these days I'll throw on fresh and matching strings and do an A/B/Y test. (I did have to stuff earplugs in the pickup springs on the Tribute to eliminate a ping.)

The tone on mine is unlike any other bass I have. It is very bright but Im able to beef up the lows and acheive many differant tones with the options on the bass. I put flats on but took them off shortly after feeling that they limited the diversity of it. The flats went on my Jazz where they remain.

That would be great to hear the comparison of the two, especially if you posted it with commentary. I dont think that there is anything like that out there. There are demos but not comparitive demos. Or just let us know what you found out.
