I've owned 30+ G&L's of every model.
I've never had that issue.
Pickup height adjustment, and adjustments at the preamp and volume knob on the bass=no worries.
IMO.
Go play one and decide for yourself.
There has to be someone in Boston who has one stocked.
Maybe it's not that important if I'm happy with mine.
I just found this old picture from '95 of the one bass I regret selling, an '82 L1000 that I bought new. I miss that thing.

I own both, and the most noticeable difference to me is the switch orientation. They don't "feel" identical in the hand but they are very similar. One of these days I'll throw on fresh and matching strings and do an A/B/Y test. (I did have to stuff earplugs in the pickup springs on the Tribute to eliminate a ping.)
What the heck is this? Is it me or this is a weird L2000?
