G&L Club Part 6

Just picked this up on eBay and expected the screw on plate with the serial number. Since this is my first G&L, I wanted you guys to confirm this serial number and application. Is it right for this 2012 G&L?

The serial number and the manufacturing date (more presicely: the date the instrument passed the final check, knowing some stock items may be older), among other information, are printed on the 'Custom Build Specifications' form, that comes in the carrying case with every G&L guitar (hence all JB Basses) made in Fullerton. My M-2500 bass (sn # CLF0641XX) has the screw on plate, and the form is dated 3/7/2012.

In the Guitarsbyleo registry, for the 2011-2013 period, there is only one JB registered (with neck date : xx/xx/2011) and its serial number is CLF59934.

Just wanted to say I am absolutely satisfied and thrilled with the quartersawn option on my SB-1 neck. Coupled with the ebony board and the gloss finish, it just feels so solid. On this bass, unlike some of my others, it feels like the bass is "built around the neck" - where the neck is really the core and center of the bass, and the body is along for the ride.

This! (in my case for the L-1500 quartersawn / fat ebony FB). And the 6-bolt joint.

I just picked this up on trade. Built in 2000. I'm totally digging it since it's my only 4 banger in my arsenal :)

Still waiting on my LB-100. I'm currently coming up on week 12. I placed a call to check up on the status and I was told there was a delay getting some of the bodies in the paint booth and that they promised an additional 3 weeks tops...that was 4 weeks ago. So hopefully it should be done any time now.

I keep eyeing their FB page daily to see if they take a shop shot of it but nothing yet. I'm hoping to see it because I don't see many LB-100's or my color (Emerald Green Metallic) let alone with the tort PG combo on their page so it should be a bit unique.

Bummer. I'm at week 8 of an estimated 10-14. I hope that doesn't put it past Christmas.

Same here. I love the pictures they post. That has to be one of the coolest things that any manufacturer does. It really shows off the custom nature of the instruments. I really want to see mine on there.

That's what I thought for a long time too...
That is until I bought my L2500 off a TBer and it came with Dunlop DBN 2015 or perhaps DBN 2025 and I loved them. Cheap too. Not saying you'll like them better but just giving you one more thing to try!

And fer sure D'addario half-rounds are THE strings for a fretless L2500!
Tone to die for.

y'know, i did some digging through my string bin and found the last set of dunlops i bought and threw them onto my L1K. they're barely settled in and have plenty of zing, but they are standard gauge and i tend to prefer lights. but on this bass with the tilt feature i can get the action super low so it's more comfortable for me. they are a better fit for this bass than the d'addarios.
