G&L Club Part 6

Holy cow. The G&L #8 neck is some kind of deadly secret weapon. I just received a NOS 2011 Tribute SB-2 from the brown truck today. Put some TI flats on it, lowered the action and man!! Plays itself. Loving this little bass. Now I need to sell some Fenders and a Lakland.

It seems I'm member #16 from waaaay back. I haven't been around in a long time, and I noticed that my pic doesn't show up anymore. I guess I need to take some new pics of my G&L basses! Just ignore the other non-G&L basses in the pic below.

On a side note, if anybody sees the ASAT below out in the wild, PLEASE contact me. It was loaned out to someone who I thought was a friend a few years ago, and it disappeared. I want it back!

Although it's listed as a Tribute it has a clear blue finish, a "made in Fullerton" on the front of the headstock, and a CLF serial number. That says USA L2K to me. If it had a narrow neck I'd probably have bought it buy now - but if someone is looking for a USA L2K for under $600 this one has gone through a listing cycle at least twice without a bid on ebay.

I don't really want to get into the project of looking for somebody to trade me a skinny neck for it so somebody do me a favor and buy it

Check out that 1/4-sawn neck! That's a USA for sure. Sweet!

Threw that up on the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Looks like its 2008 vintage by the serial. Actually there seems to be quite a few L2K's up on ebay at the moment. Trading in for an MJ4?

I'm struggling to fine one locally (South Africa).

Recently bought a L2500 for my son's 19th birthday. This was to be his first 5 string and I wanted to get him something really nice, but still had a budget to stick to. I have to say this bass blows away anything I have have played in this price range, period. I was a bit worried about the weight, as I have seen some of these be quite heavy. I contacted Bass San Diego and they got in touch with G&L and asked them if a L2500 could be made with a lightweight swamp ash body. G&L said they could do that, so I placed the order. Not only did the bass come in at 8.3lbs, but it plays beautifully and sounds superb. Couldn't be any happier with this purchase!

I don't know. I ordered the switch from DigiKey that is specified on the BassesByLeo site for this mod, then I sent the bass to G&L for a neck replacement and asked them to do the K mod while they had it. They ended up telling me that the switch I sent wasn't right for some reason and they just used one of their own.

Since the K-mod adds a "single coil" mode to the series/parallel switch, what happens if you put the pickup selector on either extreme, do you only get 1 pickup? Then with the pickup selector in the middle, you would get 2 single coils, sort of like a jazz bass?

I just got a killer deal on a Tom Hamilton ASAT from the Bass Place (I think the sparkles got to me - and, it's blue). This will be my first G&L, and I am curious if any club members can help me understand this particular model? How different is it from the standard ASAT?

Hey Guys - What size Allen screws go in the bridge for the locking saddle?

It Appears that the allen screw is actually missing from some of my basses!
