Guess it would be possible to have (another?) switch position to swap the active coils? Maybe that's getting a bit too complicated!!

Picked up this little gem a couple of weeks ago from Chrome Dome. It started life as a fretless, but Dome had it fretted. Well, just got her back from my tech and it is playing to perfection. Frets were a little sloppy but now they are spot on. Just might be the nicest L2K I've ever had my hands on.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments! So do you feel the Kilo doesn't need mods, or you just haven't gotten around to it yet?

I love the way the Kiloton sounds just the way it is, though I know there are some folks who do some mods on them. I have no plans to change mine from stock...at this time.

I'm digging mine however if they came out with a single coil neck pickup added to the mix that would kill. Great bass as it is though. Neck is killer.

Multi pup Stingrays have this ability. Choose which coil is on so not impossible. Not sure they make a 4 position mini switch though.

Paul Gagon did a mod to his Tribute Kiloton with a single coil neck pickup. Here's a link to that info:

I wonder how a Musicmaster Vista pickup would do in that position of a Megaton. not enough to do anything about it, but it would be cool.

Single coil is my favorite mode for my L2000. Sounds so good.

In my cover band, I've been using the L-2000 in passive single coil mode quite a lot.

It took a GREAT amount of restraint not to pick up that Andromeda finished L2500 at Bass Place in AZ.

The love for Andromeda always makes me laugh (noting that I like it). When I bought my Peavey GV in 2003, I got it new old stock at a deep discount because of the finish. Paid $450 for the bass with case and warranty from a Peavey dealer (Brighton Music in Pittsburgh). The bass was listed as a great bass that was discounted because it was so ugly that it did not sell. The finish repeatedly comes up as one that people do not like. G&L introduces the same finish and everyone seems to like it.

Pic of Peavey below for comparison. Note the lighting in the photo is not great, it does the multi color sparkle thing that Andromeda does under the right light. The finish works great under stage lighting. Now I need to get a matching G&L at some point.

Best part, they got the fretboard right, with the ebony.

Don't get me wrong, I love rosewood, but visually, it wouldn't work on that bass.

Unfortunately, for me, there were no lefty Peaveys in that colour.

Love the sound of my Tribute JB but holly crap, is it heavy! 5,6 kg which translates to 12.35 lbs. Is it common for G&L or is it because of the woods used for indonesian Tribute models?

There's a fourteen-pound (6.4Kg) lefty USA L-1500 floating around. Sometimes they just get heavy!
