Yes bronin! Its to isolate the P when solo. So no shows are… wait. Yeah that works, I can still enjoy the P solo without the single. No load.

On the Bass Options page of the G&L site, three possible neck profiles are offered for 4-strings:
1½" Medium C – (0.820" / 0.920") #6 + #8
1⅝" Medium C – (0.820" / 0.940") #11 + #12
1¾" Medium C – (0.820" / 0.940") #5 + #7
I just noticed this on the Sep 2019 spec sheets for a CLF Research L-2000
CLF Slim C profile – 1⅝" nut and 0.800" / 0.900" thicknesses
which would definitely be a noticeable difference.
On the CLF Research page of the USA Basses section of their website, both the L-1000 and L-2000 are listed as having a CLF/G&L 1 5/8" slim C profile.
Has this Slim C profile for 1⅝" necks previously been available for Option Order basses?
And was there ever a 1⅝" Thick C, something around 0.860" / 0.980"? Or would such profiles have been old-fashioned by the '80s?
While I'm asking questions, what were necks #9 and #10? — 1 + 11/16" width?

That Slim C profile is only available on the CLF models. It's also got the paddle headstock.
The Custom Shop might be able to put that neck on non-CLF models, but I'm not positive about that. I feel like I've actually placed a Custom Shop order like that for somebody, but I'm foggy on the details.
Does that profile have its roots back in G&L's early days, or is it a recent development to follow the current trends for shallow necks?
(For me, my ideal would be nice 1 + 9/16" Thick U, so this is definitely just random curiosity on my part
)
I think the story is that they found a 1980-ish L-1000 and copied it's neck profile... but I'm not sure that was a normal neck from that period of time. Might have been more variability in the thickness tolerances back then.
My '89 is thinner front-to-back than both my '88 and '93….
Hi there, sorry but I completely missed your post and these clips until they were pointed out to me! My L2000 is paid for and should be on its way soon so I'm going to try out everything in passive, then active, then decide about the K mod. I thought outer coils but now I'm not sure. I believe they call it option paralysis, something I don't have with the SB1! Thanks again
SB-2 Tribute - I like the sound with the bridge pup rolled off just a little bit but the pot is much too sensitive for me.
I believe that it is a 250K audio taper. Would going to a linear taper pot solve this issue?
I suppose another alternative might be a multi-turn pot but maybe that is unnecessary?
I just want to make the bridge volume pot have more adjustability near the wide open position.
Pretty sure others here have had that same question but Ken in the Basses by Leo forum was unaware of this.

On my self-wired SB-2T, I have linear taper pots for both volume controls and the sort of blend you're describing is *much* easier.
I've been fighting the same issue as Jim C, but on a SG bass, which is listed as "non-linear" pots (so I'm assuming log/audio), so I appreciate this info. I'll have to try linear pots.
Taking a chance, and I ordered a used US L2500 from the GC used site. Judging from the serial number, looks like a 96-98, blue, or blueburst with a Birdseye maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Played one in the past and really liked it, hoping this scratches that 5 string itch id been having.
